Vehicle Detail

1965 Volkswagen Convertible Karmann Model Very Good Condition This vehicle is located in Wimberley, Texas, not far from Austin. It was donated to a Church for use in a fundraiser. It has only been driven on a large ranch for the last year or so. It seems to be in good shape and well-maintained mechanically. It was driven from the ranch into town for temporary storage, a distance of 15-20 miles. It started and ran well but the windshield wipers do not work and the brakes need some work (stopped the car but a bit spongy). The body is in very good shape with no major dings or scratches. The paint job is relatively new, shiny, very good looking but does have some "orange peel". The interior and top are also in very good shape with no rips or tears. The tires are in good shape with lots of tread. The odometer reads 05510. It is expected the buyer will pick up at its current location in Wimberley, Texas. If you are interested in having it shipped somewhere, that is a possibility but please let me know so we can be in agreement prior to bidding. Buyer will pay for ALL shipping/delivery costs. While this VW is considered to be in good shape, it is sold in AS-IS condition! A $500 deposit must be received within 48 hours of close of auction. The remainder must be received within 7 days of close of auction. If you cannot honor these requirements, don't bid. Lack of prompt payment will result in filing of unresponsive bidder as quickly as Ebay will allow. The Church is in need of funds so quick payment is desired. On Oct-13-10 at 11:23:57 PDT, seller added the following information: I have lowered the reserve as of 11:30 a.m. PDT on Wednesday, October 13! Happy Bidding!!! On Oct-14-10 at 16:31:00 PDT, seller added the following information: In the interest of full disclosure, a bidder visited the car yesterday and provided some information that should be known. He spent a great deal of time with the car, including underneath and looking at it very closely. I believe he has dealt with older vehicles a great deal so looked at things we might have otherwise missed. Please be aware these are his observations along with viewing by my brother in law. I have never seen the car but am trying to provide as accurate a description as possible. The floor appears to have several rust holes and a galvanizes sheet pan has been riveted to the floor underneath the car. It was also sealed with what appears to be silicon glue to prevent leaking. The tire well area has a hole the size of your fist. This has not been repaired. The viewer said, "Not a bad car but does have some rust issues more than said in description". I hope this helps. Probably not unexpected for a vehicle (especially a convertible) that is 45 years old, but all bidders should be aware of these new findings.
