Up for auction is a 1960 Chevy Impala. I've owned the car since 1986 and drove it for years, and it has a clear title. Unfortunately, I ran into a rough financil patch a few years ago, and when the brakes went out I let it sit for a few years. I've taken it to a good mechanic who says it's definitely worth fixing up, but I just don't have the money to do it right now, so I'm letting it go. I don't know all the problems that it might have, because I haven't been able to drive it since it's been sitting. Here's what I do know: The gas tank and sending unit need to be replaced. The mechanic said the engine ran when he ran a gas line to a bucket, though. The windshield is broken, and the interior needs to be replaced, including the door panels. It does have a few rust spots, but nothing that appears major. The engine is a 283 V-8. It also needs a new muffler. Frankly, I'm no mechanic and I don't know what you might be getting into with this car, just that my mechanic said that it's still worth fixing, but you might just want it for parts. It was a great car to me, and I hate to see it go. If you're in the Nashville area, feel free to come by and look. The passenger side vent window is also broken. The air breather is missing (must have been left at the mechanics last year). The trunk has two half dollar size rusted out spots where it latches, but the bottom seems to be okay. Someone came to check it out and got under it with a flashlight and said that there were some rusted out spots in the floor pans, but they're not visible from the interior. The tires are not right, and are only on there to make it roll to the trailer. I do have a bunch of the trim in the trunk, but not all. The front of the hood has a dent.
