Vehicle Detail
This auction is for the highly desirable and classic 1938 Buick Series 40 Special Convertible Coupe. The car is one of 2,625 built and very few of the originals like this one remain. The vehicle is an older frame up restoration; completely restored inside and out. The engine was completely rebuilt as were many of the mechanical systems including transmission and rear end. The car is powered by a Dynaflash 8 and is equipped with factory side mounts with body colored cases and a rumble seat. There is a three speed manual gearbox and four-wheeled hydraulic brakes. Other equipment includes front and rear bumper guards, red painted wheels with hubcaps, beauty rings and reproduction 1930's style wide whitewall tires. Original fender skirts add a formal look and can easily be removed to add a more sporty appearance to this classic. Inside, the glove box mounted clock is in proper working condition. The rumble seat is featured in black leatherette. The vehicle also features a brand new convertible top. The car has not been driven beyond the confines of its owner's property since the restoration and the odometer reads 1004 miles, this mileage however is unverified. The car runs well and its new owner will be proud to drive it in many parades and classic car shows. The car is garaged in Watertown, Connecticut. Additional pictures of the vehicle are gladly available upon request - and further the car may be viewed in Watertown by appointment.
