***** ESTATE AUCTION ***** From a southern california ESTATE ............... We are selling at AUCTION with NO RESERVE......... One 1980 Mercedes Benz 450 SLC Touring Car that is in remarkable condition. We are selling this Mercedes for the second owner and it has always been a southern california car. This 1980 450 SLC was manufactured in January of 1980 and was first sold at Hollywood Mercedes Benz on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood California in July of 1980. It was initially owned by a successful rancher here in the Coachella Valley, California and was sold to the second owner in Palm Desert, California in 2004. Today this 30 year old fine automobile has less than 86,000 Original Miles ............... (about 2850 miles per year for our learning impaired bidders!) ....... and is an absolute joy to drive. This Benz has rarely seen rain ............. never seen snow ........ and is a very nice RUST FREE original unmolested example of one of the greatest touring cars ever manufactured. It has always been garage kept in a climate controlled enviroment and always adult driven and professionally maintained. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer example. U.S. sales of the 450 SLC started in 1972 and 1980 was the last year Mercedes Benz produced the 450 SLC with only 2280 manufactured. How many are left is anyone's guess ........... but not too many ......... and how many in this original unmolested condition is even fewer. The exterior paint is original and the car is finished in Mercedes Benz Astral Silver with a grey leather interior. The leather seats have been protected by sheepskin covers up front and the back looks like it has rarely been sat in. The dash has been protected by a cover and only 3 small cracks up very close to the bottom of the windshield ...... that are hard to see ........ exist in the dash. The air conditioner blows COLD (air conditioning system has been upgraded) and even the clock and radio antenna work on this Benz. The Michelin tires look to be about 85% of new and the chromed alloy wheels have NOT had contact with a curb at this point. This car has always been a Sunday Afternoon Car ........ and that will pay dividends to the new owner. The Car comes with the original window sticker ($43,875.00) and that was a lot of money in 1980 ............. All of the original books and manuals are with the car (even the unused first aid kit is intact!) and the car just passed a rigid California Smog Test. It drives smooth and steady and it does not leak at all ........ not one drop........... Powered by a ultra smooth 4.5 litre Fuel Injected V-8 coupled to a 3 speed Automatic transmission this car will carry 4 adults and cruise all day at 80 miles per hour ........ and never break a sweat. The 450 SLC was a variation of the Mercedes SL series with a longer wheelbase (about 14 inches) that made room for back seats complete with seatbelts, electric window controls and ashtrays ...... (this one has not been smoked in). With the longer wheelbase the 450 SLC has a smoother highway ride than the SL and with the sunroof ......... you are not missing out on anything. The drivers side rear window seems a bit dodgy and works sometimes ........ but that may be because it has sat for years ......... and there is only one key with the car (easily fixed) and that is about it. I personally drove the car from Palm Desert up to Idylliwild, California (desert floor to about 6000 feet) and was amazed about how solid and steady this Mercedes feels.
