Vehicle Detail
This car is going to be sold as is for parts or redo and there is NO RESERVE!! Only 114 Ever produced of the 1958 220SE Fuel Injected Pontoon Mercedes! I have had this one since 2000 or so. This car is a great barn find. I never had a chance to restore it to it's glory. I drove it in the early 2000's for only 30 miles and it really drove nice. I was told that the miles were actual and I had no proof and didn't really care when I purchased it. I then put the car away and planned on doing a full restoration. It never happened and now I would like to make room in my shop for the winter. I know that the clutch works well. The tires were brand new and I put them on the car in 2000 or so. They are a little dry now. The interior is in tough shape. The body is pretty solid. The bottom is okay. The rear axle mount broke loose because I was checking to see if it was strong enough. Nope. I have that filmed. That is a 6 inch by 3 inch mounting point. The front bumper mounts have some rot too. The car is pretty clean for a barn find. The motor runs excellent. It is not staying running now because the fuel is old. It will run on starter fluid. The brakes work. The lights work. The horn works. The trunk area has the spare, tool kit and mats. The trunk is pretty solid. The chrome bumpers are pitted. I hear the fuel pump working when I turn the key. The battery is excellent. The tune up is not old. The windshield has a stone chip that ran 12 inches. The wood trim is dry. The rear tail lights are new. The car is complete and would make a great donor car for the fuel injected motor and transmission. The car has great potential to the right buyer. I am offering it at no reserve. I have 70 pictures in the ad showing the car from top to bottom. In New York State pre 1973 cars have transferable registratioins. That is what this car has and it is how vehicles are transfered in NYS. I also will give the new buyer a bill of sale. I have the car at my warehouse ready to go home with the new owner. Thank you for your interest! It is only for sale here, there is no buy it now, the auction will not end early so plan on bidding and be there at the end to win!! On Sep-20-10 at 08:48:53 PDT, seller added the following information: The suspension arm has been tied up for transport. I have more pictures showing under the seat and the supports, how it was tied up for transport and the other side. The other side appears to be solid. Next, The fuel tank is empty. I know the motor is nice and quiet. It purrs. The transmission shifted through all of the gears as it should. The brakes work pretty nice too. It has been sitting and should have some new fuel, new battery, oil change and so on. It is pretty easy to, "wake up" these Mercedes when they have been in storage. Enjoy the pictures! Thank you On Sep-20-10 at 17:37:50 PDT, seller added the following information: 201 made not 114. Sorry. Shows it in the book that I filmed. Also the part for the suspension is tied up so the car can be flatbedded. Thanks
