Up for sale is our trusty, 1988 Volvo 740 GLE Station Wagon. It currently has 206,452 miles on it. It is currently registered until February 26, 2011. Registration sticker is now on the car. It had been tucked away in the glovebox. It was purchased from a used car dealership who acquired it from an elderly couple in Thousand Oaks. It has been my daily driver for a little over 2 years, without fail. I drive roughly 50 miles round trip each day to work and this car has faithfully and safely taken me to and from work without major problems. That is not to say this car does not have its fair share of minor nicks, dings ,etc. as well as a few squeaks and creeks, but I imagine you would too if you were 22 years old. Another thing, this Volvo does have a salvage title, but do not get scared away. Remember the elderly couple, they had 2 minor fender benders in the car and the driver and passenger side doors have been professionally repaired. No structural or frame damage. I would not have purchased it if it was not safe. All of this is disclosed on the Carfax report. Well, if you are still with me, let me proceed with the details about the car. It is silver, still mostly factory paint, which does shine up nicely when washed and waxed. It is the GLE model, which has all the bells and whistles: power windows, power door locks, factory dual position moonroof, tinted windows, multi-position drivers seat, upgraded factory radio with cassette deck, power antenna, rear window defrost and A/C (which needs to be recharged – it has been converted over). The seats are nice, gray cloth with added matching front headrest pads. No rips, tears, etc. in the interior. It has black carpeting throughout. No rips, tears or stains. The door panels are factory original and are all in one piece. We all know that the map pockets tend to break. Not on this car. 22 years old and still going strong. In the back, there is a spare tire underneath the spacious storage area. If you fold down the rear split seat, you can get a mountain bike or other large object in and still have room for 1-2 passengers. The Volvo 740 GLE is powered by a trusty inline 4 cylinder motor, which is all stock, and running well. This is a 3 speed automatic with overdrive. Again, as most of you know, the overdrive tends to go out. Again, 22 years old and still functioning flawlessly. As for leaks, drips, etc., this car has none. No oil, power steering, brake or transmission leaks. All lights function and work as required, headlights, brake lights, turn signals, dash and interior lights. Car does not blow blue or white smoke. The car shifts and drives fine for a 22 year old vehicle. As for recent service, the last oil change was done at 202,642 miles and a new left front tire was put on at 202,646 miles. Other recent service at 200,870 miles was a new distributor, new battery and new alternator. It really is hard to believe this car is 22 years old. I have included a number of photos for your review. I have found a new “daily driver” and do not need 2 cars, so this one must go. I am offering this car at NO RESERVE. High bidder wins. I have accidently turned on the heated seat and it gives new meaning to “light a fire under you’re a_ _”. Also, there is built in lumber support on the drivers seat and it functions perfectly. Also, this car consistently gets around 23-25 MPG mixed city/highway driving. This car is fully functional and has been driven daily up until 09/04/10, when I acquired my new “daily driver”. Only selling the Volvo because I found a car I have wanted to own for awhile and could not pass up the opportunity.
