Please note: I am helping a friend list it here on eBay so please direct any and all questions to the owner at Finla34@yahoo.com. He has also indicated that he will deliver the car within 200 miles of Holland for $1 per mile if desired. You are bidding on a 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500. This car is a very original Texas car, with no rust that appears to have been very well taken care of for the past 34 years. I purchased this car in the spring of 2001 and have continued it's excellent care. It has always been garaged (and under cover) never driven in the rain during my ownership, and runs excellently. It features a strong running 1500 cc engine mated to a crisp 4 speed manual transmission both of which have proven to be 100% reliable for me over the past ten years. I have purchased new oversize Michelin tires and this car handles like a British sports car dream. And unlike most old cars, does NOT burn oil! I purchased this car from an airline mechanic who claimed the car was originally bought by a Texas college professor who later gave the car to his son. The mechanic bought the car from the son. I have no idea if in fact I am the fourth owner or not but it makes for an interesting story when people ask you about the car........and they will. This car gets plenty of attention with it's shiny original Inca yellow paint and Italian Pinafarina styling, chrome bumpers, and original wood dashboard and new black leather seats and new black plush carpeting. The only concessions to non-originality made with this car is the installation of a reliable electronic ignition unit, a K&N air filter (the original and box of other parts will come with the car) and a high power Pioneer AM/FM Digital single CD player connected to great high quality audio Pioneer speakers. Any or all could be easily removed if the new owner wants to revert back to absolute originality, but to me there is nothing much more enjoyable than cruising down a back road with great sounding music. The speedometer shows 55K but I have no idea if it is in fact the original miles. I suspect it is. There is no rot on the body and it looks great for a car it's age that has not been restored. The only reason I am auctioning the car because my father passed away in March and I have inherited two of his collector cars and need the garage space. The only negative of this car is that it has fluid leaking from the rear axle seals, a common issue with Spitfires . It was leaking when I purchased the car in '01 and I have been careful to get under the car and add fluid. Not really a big deal for me. Also, the metal has rotted underneath the battery, also a very common characteristic of old British cars. The new plastic tray holds the battery without a problem but a new owner may elect to have a new piece of metal welded in. I have attempted to be as accurate and informative as to this car’s condition, but of course there are no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. I will accept almost any form of payment, but car will not leave my possession until funds are completely cleared by my bank. Scammers need not bother! Happy bidding!
