Vehicle Detail
This is a 1970 Triumph TR250W with matching numbers and very original. I bought this as a “barn find” the owner told me he bought it with 100 miles on it and only used it for dirt riding in the north of Michigan. The clock said 258 miles, now I’m not saying that’s correct, but the speedo works and the cable is not broken. The last time it was registered for the road was 1981, so it could well be correct. I’ve put a couple miles on it since for post restoration shakedown purposes. It was very rusty and dirty but I cleaned the carb and installed a new battery and spark plug and with new gas the engine started on the fifth kick. So I spent the winter, cleaning, painting or replacing almost all of the parts. The front forks were rebuilt, the original front wheel rim is very rusty so I have replaced the entire wheel with a fully restored hub, re-laced with new spokes by Mike Shelvey of MA’s motors on a WM 18 inch rim. The headlight is original and shows only slight sign of pitting. Gas tank is clean on the inside and has been painted with a Ford after market spray can color that is a reasonable match to the original color and the same color is used for the fenders. The motor starts easily when warm with two to three kicks and idles nicely. When cold you need to screw in the idle jet and give it a lot of tickling. It goes up and down the gearbox with no issues. All the fluids have been replaced There is a brand new battery. Many of the nuts and bolts were in fantastic condition and were simply cleaned and then lightly coated in a clear lacquer to prevent rusting. The chrome on the rear rim is poor but I dismantled the brake and cleaned all the parts and it works well. The seat has been repaired and has no tears and the trim is in great shape. The chrome on the muffler is not very good but it does not have any holes and is very serviceable. The tires are not original but they are very good used tires but it is your call whether you replace them. I am selling this bike to pay for the restoration of a second TR250W that I own. This bike has a clear title in my name and comes with the original toolkit, the title from the late 70’s. it is in this auction with a low reserve. A 1969 model sold on eBay a few weeks ago for $4100, this one I think is better and more complete. A 68 went for $2440.99. The 70 is the best with the twin leading shoe front brake. Buyer is responsible for shipping and costs associated. I have used this shipping company a couple of times and there has been no complaint from myself or the recipient http://alliedmotorcycleshipping.com/. If you live in the SE Michigan area feel free to come and take a look. Please ask questions, I want you to be satisfied with the purchase. This bike is used and sold as-is without warranty.
