TRUE 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Roadster - one of the last 44 “Pagoda’s” to roll off the production line!!!! NO Reserve!! Here is the chance to own one of the most beautiful roadsters that Mercedes-Benz ever made -1971 Mercedes- Benz 280SL also known as “Pagoda”. 1971 was last year of production for W113 bodystyle, and there was only 830 cars produced that final year. What makes this “Pagoda” stand out from the rest, is that this is TRUE 1971 production year Mercedes 280SL. It was made in February of 1971, which was last month of production for the W113 bodystyle! (http://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/USModelYear) This Mercedes is a production number 23,841 out of only 23,885 280SL’s ever made. IT is one of the last 44 280SL’s that rolled off of the production line, making it a highly desirable collectors item, and every “Pagoda’s” enthusiast's dream!! There is a few of “1971” 280 SL’s for sale, but if you check the production number, or a production year, you will see that they were actually produced in late 1970’s, making them “not quite” 1971 model! When these cars were first manufactured, Mercedes-Benz adhered to construction methods that resulted in a standard that was the envy of the automotive industry. Every Mercedes-Benz model shared a build quality second to none. This Mercedes is all original, ALL COMPLETE, and it makes a great candidate for a restoration! Best thing is I am selling it with NO RESERVE, so may the highest bidder win!!!!!! This Pagoda was parked into storage about 20+ years ago, and nobody touched it since. As you can see on the pictures this car is all complete, but it will need total restoration! Doors, hood, and trunk lid are all operating with ease, and structurally this Mercedes is in good condition, especially for its age and the fact that it was stored for all those years. There is some rust here and there, as it’s to be expected on a 40 year old car that has never been restored. There is rusted-through spot in the trunk, (weak point of these cars), but rest of the car appears to be solid, especially the undercarriage (please see pictures)!! All original weld dots along front fenders are still present showing the originality of this car. Headlight Notches or how some people call them “beauty marks” are present as well, showing that this car has never been in any type of accident! Hood, chassis plate (Karosserie) number, hard-top, and soft-top lid or “horse shoe” are all having a matching number ending in “742” (please see pictures!!), which is another evidence of the originality of this Mercedes. Once restored, this beautiful Sand Biege Metallic (color code 467H) Pagoda will look breathtaking, and it will make a wonderful investment with phenomenal return!! This Pagoda comes with both the Hard Top and the Soft Top. Original Interior is all there down to its Kienzle clock, and Becker Euorpa Radio!! It also comes with Air Conditioning, a highly desirable and rare period option. Its fuel injected straight 6 cylinder engine is all complete, and it comes with automatic transmission! Odometer shows 95,131 miles, which I beleive is correct, because car has been stored and not driven in 20+ years.
