Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is this low mile (kilometer) Chang Jiang 750 with a sidecar, siren, light, etc. It's a very interesting bike with only 743km, the speedo/odometer are hooked up and working so I have no reason to believe the mileage is incorrect. The bike doesn't run, I used a truck and tow rope to ride it a few blocks to the garage it's currently in and we hit 20km/hr (woo-hoo!!) and the odometer clicked over a few tenths. The sidecar appears to be original to the bike, it's not cobbled on to the bike with miscellaneous bits of scrap like some of the side car rigs I've seen, it looks like it came from the factory this way. Most of the pictures of these bikes I found online have sidecars so I would guess they all come with them. These bikes are rapidly gaining in popularity with custom bike enthusiasts as they are similar to Beemers from the same period but generally quite a bit cheaper, would make a cool custom bike and there are already some sites and companies that are doing just that! The story I got on the bike is a serviceman brought it home from overseas years ago and it's been parked ever since, I know nothing about the bike, someone owed me money and gave me the bike instead of cash. I actually forgot to look at the VIN plate and check the year, it's probably in Chinese anyway so I wouldn't be able to decipher it! It has a kickstarter but it wouldn't kick over, it appears the motor is locked up. Just from looking it over I can tell you it seems to be complete but will need the normal TLC a bike that has been sitting always does. No title, bill of sale only, the bike is being stored in Salem NJ 08079, contact me to schedule a time to see it. You can pick the bike up at either zip code 08079 or Philadelphia 19125, whichever is easier for you. I don't know the year or VIN, it does have a VIN plate on the frame neck I just forgot to look at it. I put the bike in neutral and it wouldn't kick over, I'm assuming the motor's locked although I admittedly know nothing about these bikes. It's a very interesting complete bike and would be a shame to part it out, if that happens I've already had offers on the leading link forks and the sidecar totaling over $900, I just hate to part out a bike as complete as this. Contact your local DMV if you have questions about titling the bike, I haven't looked into it. I can deliver in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area or to the nearest freight terminal for FREE!!! I will not arrange shipping but will assist in any way I can, check forward air for reasonable prices. Thanks for looking and please feel free to ask any questions. UPDATE!!!!! I got a chance to look at the bike today and found two cool things, it has reverse which is really handy and there is a date stamped on the frame just below the neck. I forget the exact month and day but the year is 1960! I would have never guessed this bike was that old and I'm not saying it is but that's the date stamped in the frame. Your guess is as good as mine on that one!
