2008 Mini Cooper S Coupe While I hate to do it, I am selling my 2008 Mini Cooper S Coupe . I purchased this vehicle new from Otto’s Mini in West Chester, PA in April 2008. It has been a _very_ good vehicle, perfectly reliable and has done everything we have ever asked of it. Alas, we now have a new grand-daughter, a six year old and a teenager, so we need a slightly larger vehicle. If you are reading this, you probably already know all about the Mini Cooper S from 2007 and later, with its newer, much more torquey and efficient turbocharged engine, front wheel drive with ABS, All-Season Traction Control (ASC), Corner Brake Control (CBC) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). It also has the “Sport” button to sharpen up the throttle and steering response. And of course the wonderful special features that make it a fun car to drive every day, like customizable interior lighting and steering column mounted tachometer with LED display. So let me concentrate on the features in this specific Cooper S, and its history since delivery. First, this is a 2008, the second year of the redesigned Mini with all new interior, exterior and engine. It looks a lot like the first generation from the outside unless you look closely at the exhaust pipes and the side badges. The interior features much higher quality switchgear and surfaces than the previous generation, as BMW’s influence can be felt improving the entire car. Still made in Oxford England though! But the engine is the really big difference. In the second generation turbocharging replaces supercharging, and the entire engine is brand new. This engine has more power and torque than the last “S” and gets significantly better fuel economy to boot! Rated at 26 MPG City and 34 highway, we averaged 30 MPG around town and 38 on the road. This is a 6 speed version, which makes it a lot of fun to drive. The standard features on this vehicle are many, and I will list them at the end of the description. In addition to the standard features, this vehicle has the following factory installed options: · Laser Blue metallic paint · Grey/Carbon Black Leatherette · Cold Weather Package o Power Folding Mirrors o Heated Mirrors and washer jets o Heated Front Seats (wonderful!) · 16” Alloy Wheels, bridge spoke, Run-flat · Multi-function steering wheel · Sports leather steering wheel · Dual pane panoramic sunroof (very, very nice) · Foglights · All-season tires Additionally, I have added: · Factory Mudflaps Front and Rear · Factory cargo compartment liner · Factory center console tray · Factory fliptop armrest with storage tray · A perforated sunroof graphic of the Union Jack (keeps the interior cool and looks cool as well) · A Parrot Evo Bluetooth system for hands free calling from your mobile phone, integrated with the factory radio and steering wheel controls. Works great with iPhones, BlackBerries and all other Bluetooth phones. · A “Glovebox Tidy” in checkered flag motif to match the interior · I will also include a set of six oil filters and gaskets for doing more frequent oil changes than the included dealer service plan By now you are probably guessing that I am an auto enthusiast, and indeed I am, and this is one of four cars in the household. This vehicle has been treated to _better_ than the recommended maintenance schedule, with Mobil One used in the engine ever since break in. I have had only one warranty issue, the sunroof would not open, and this has been fixed by the dealer on a visit just a few weeks ago when the annual service was also performed. Otherwise, there have been simply no issues with the vehicle at all. And that is what you should expect from a Mini with 16,600 miles. I have all receipts, window sticker and records, and of course two keyless entry keys.No smoking, no pets, no racing, no accidents, no issues. This is a really nice car, and if we could get five people in it, we would not be selling! The paint is all original, this vehicle has never in an accident, and there is no paintwork. There are some very small paint chips on the front hood, and a small chip next to the passenger’s side door handle. Other than that, and I am trying to be picky, the paint is beautiful – I have never run this vehicle thru a car wash, in fact no one in the house is allowed to wash it but me! I use Griot’s Garage cleaning products exclusively. The 16” wheels have no curb rash or other issues. The LATCH (child seat attachment points) covers for the rear seats have gone missing for three of the four locations. If you really want these covered again, I suspect they are very inexpensive from the dealer. If you plan to use a child seat(s) in the back, then you are ready to go. The interior seats are perfect, The carpets are in like new condition, always covered with factory floormats. The door panels are excellent, as is the rear cargo area. I have just had the vehicle dealer serviced and state inspected for Pennsylvania though August 2011. All services and campaigns are completely up to date. Front and Rear tires are fine now but I think will have to be replaced at the next state inspection (or in about 8K miles). This Mini is still under the factory warranty and service plan! Three years or 36,000 miles from April 2008 the Full Maintenance Program is in effect. You pay for gasoline and tires, Mini picks up the rest, including wiper blades and brake pads. For six years or 50,000 miles from April 2008 the vehicle is under the factory limited warranty. And you have Roadside Assistance for four years from April 2008, with no mileage limits. Buy and drive with confidence! So there you have it, an excellent example of the Mini Cooper S in the most recent body style and interior, with terrific options and more bonus items. It needs nothing, you will be ready to drive away in confidence anywhere in the country. The nearest airport is PHL (Philadelphia, PA) but EWR (Newark, NJ) is also close and may have a better flight for you. Fly in, drive home in sporty comfort!
