You want a car that you can drive everywhere. Tall order? Maybe, but not where this car's concerned: How about a true '71 340 'Cuda, in Tor Red, with a stroked 340 under the hood? Not only are those billboards on the fender tag, they're on the original broadcast sheet, too. I have put around 245 miles on the car and I can't possibly remember how many thumbs-up I got...this car will get you noticed. Fender tag decoded V6X: Black ..billboard.. side stripes 26: HD radiator EN1: End of codes, 1st shift M88: Tail panel moldings M91: Luggage rack N41: Dual exhaust N42: Bright exhaust tips R26: AM radio with cassette G36: Dual sport mirrors, painted J45: Hood hold-down pins L31: Fender mounted turn signals M21: Drip rail moldings M25: Rocker moldings M31: Sill moldings EV2: Tor Red exterior color C: Build to Canadian specs A01: Light package B51: Power brakes C16: Center console C55: Bucket seats EV2: Tor Red (listed twice=solid color car) H6XV: Orange bucket seat color, black interior 000: No upper door frame paint B11: November 11, 1970 build date B24543: Internal order number E55: 340ci HP (now balanced and blue printed - stroked 416ci HP) D32: HD automatic transmission (built) BS23: 'Cuda two door hardtop H1B: 340 V8, 1971 model year, Hamtramck assembly plant 211051: Sequential serial number Additions on the broadcast sheet include front and rear sway bars, 15x7 Rallye wheels, the woodgrain steering wheel, power steering, disc brakes and 3.55 gears. Nothing over the top, but nonetheless a very smartly optioned car! Aside from the options list (and the paperwork to prove it) this car's best asset is its engine. A warranty replacement block running J heads was built into a stroked monster (dyno sheet indicates 464 horse power) that lives to light the tires at the mere thought of stepping on the throttle. Michaels Racing Engines in Macedonia, OH, assembled the motor, from the big Holley on the Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake through the MSD billet distributor to the ceramic coated stepped headers to the built transmission with just the right converter. The correct 3443969 radiator handles cooling duties, a fresh orange box ECU controls the spark and the TTI 3 inch exhaust handles the spent fumes. Completed within the last four years the Tor Red (Hemi Orange in Dodge-speak) paint glows. The body was stripped to bare metal, repaired and built back up before being wet sanded to a smooth, glossy finish. No other muscle car era decal covered more sheetmetal (or looked cooler) than 'cuda's ..billboard.. stripes, and they look fantastic against the bright orange panels. The chrome and trim is in very good to excellent condition from bumper to bumper. The grille and valance insert were restored, the stainless was polished and new door handles were installed. Nearly upstaging the body are the brand new Coy's Custom Wheels C-5 rollers, 18.. in diameter, and wrapped in the widest Sumitomo HTR-Z II's that would fit in the wheelwells. Inside, new seat covers, a mint dash pad and new carpeting join excellent original and restored pieces. The tach and gauge trio are Auto Meter pieces, installed for the previous owner's piece of mind--there's less than 400 miles on the high-dollar stroker under the hood--and are the only non-standard pieces. The original cassette player is in place on a very nice console, the Slap Stik shifter works like new and the power steering and brakes are welcome in traffic or the open road. The best view in the car is from the driver's seat, while the car is moving. The experience is twofold: first, you'll see just how well sorted this car is. The steering is tight, the brakes are spot on and the car tracks straight. The exhaust note is just right for a car as loud as this one; the throttle response is amazing. Part two is how you'll feel driving this car. People honk and wave, every time you stop people want to know about the car and hey--it's just plain awesome to be driving a bright orange Barracuda. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ NADA Book Value as of August 2010 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda 2 Door Hardtop Low Retail Average Retail High Retail Base Price $19,900 $35,000 $55,700 Options 340cid/275 HP 4bbl V8 (Stroker 416cid/464 HP) 20% 20% 20% TOTAL PRICE $23,880 $42,440 $66,840 High Retail Value Definition: This vehicle is in excellent condition overall.
