Up for sale is a 1972 Cougar XR7 Convertible. I'm selling this car for my uncle, he is the 2nd owner, and bought the car in May of 1977 with 88,000 miles on it. Since then, it's only had about 850 miles per year put on it. In 1984, it was repainted in the factory correct color, and at that time, the rear quarters were replaced. Here are some other facts to be aware of: The Good: 2nd generation Cougar, last year of the mustang based Cougars XR7 package --The XR-7 model brought a wood-grained steering wheel, a simulated wood-grained dashboard with a full set of black-faced competition instruments and toggle switches, an overhead console, a T-type center automatic transmission shifter, and leather or vinyl seats. Very low mileage (116,000) and confirmed accurate 2-owner car one repaint, newer top Assume the engine is the 168 hp (125 kW) 351 Cleveland 2-barrel V8, may be the larger 264 hp version. Engine/Transmission are numbers matching. The Bad: Needs rear springs (why is sits low in the back) 2 spots of rust on the floorboard, rear foot pockets - and near the left foot pocket on the drivers side The right power window switch is out. The motor is good, works if you switch the cables. Car is an original survivor, will need some TLC, but fires right up, and would be comfortable taking on long trips. Reserve set extremely low at $1,995, Uncle is selling to buy a newer convertible and does not have the time to restore this car.
