Vehicle Detail
This is a very rare 1961 Triumph Herald 948. The engine is from the Standard Herald name with matching engine and body numbers. They only built 8262 Convertibles in the first 4 months of 1961 of which less then 300 - 948’s still exist around the world, and only a few are in this good a condition or better then this one. There are only 2 registered at the link below for the 1961 convertible. This Herald is Registered at the following site, look for the vin number – Y15021 LCV ….. http://www.triumph-herald.com/YlistsY14989.htm Also …. Please go to this link to learn more about the 948 Herald from WIKIPEDIA …. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Herald The actual odometer miles are 73488. The odometer has stopped working as of this last week. The trip-odometer and speedometer both work fine still. The interior and exterior look very good, but not perfect. The hubcaps are in good condition. The Original Black Fiber Dash is in good condition for its age with just a little flaking on the top and at the right side end. The white convertible top is made of Sailcloth Vinyl and shows age and tears at the corners of the windows and the plastic windows have completely oxidized and fogged up and will need replacing. It leaks a few drops of oil, not much, but some. Both masters are on the newer side, as of the past 8 years or so. The bumper guards could use re-chroming on the front and rear. Repaired - I had a new drive shaft bracket made as the old one broke its weld. The frame has been inspected and is in very good condition no rot or rust, floor pans and rocker panels in very good condition with no rot or rust. As of Aug-8-2010, I had a full service tune-up, I had the twin SU carburetors trimmed and adjusted and oil change Extra New or Newer Parts, New Windshield Rubber, New Spare Break Shoes, New Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses, Newer Spare Replacement Clutch Plate. FAQ; Miles = 73488 actual and current. Body damage = None that I am aware of. Bondo or rust = Surface rust at the trunk lid hinge mounts, see pics. Replaced Floors or Rocker Panels = No. They are Original and in very good condition. Is it the Original 948cc Engine = Yes – this car has matching Numbers. Does it have Overdrive = No Overdrive for this year and model. Pink Slip in Hand? = Yes, this is a clear title car. I am the 3rd owner and I am not aware of any accidents or replaced body parts on this car. The paint was redone about 13 years ago and it has held up pretty well. This Herald drives very soundly, but we are certainly not trying to sell it as a fully restored Barrett-Jackson type car… with that being said … this car has been valued at $8200 USD as it stands. This car comes with no warranties of any kind, this car will be sold - Where Is / As Is with no warrantees or guarantees given or implied. This is a 49 year old Classic English Sports Car, and as such, is prone to need regular maintenance and or repairs. I know it may seem silly to say all this since it is a 1961 English Sports Car …. but I wanted to cover it anyways for the new buyers that might not be aware of this true labor of love.
