If tires are not kept fully inflated, mileage will go down, especially in cold weather, but still in the 38-48 mpg range.. I have LOVED this car.* The big reason I’m giving it up is that my husband wants to be able to plug his Ipod into an “AUX” jack when he uses the car around town, so we are looking for a slightly younger Prius with this feature. Our favorite dealer, "Charlie's Toyota" in Augusta, ME also checked the auxiliary battery, which would have been checked under the "Hybrid Components" category in the 160-point "Certified" process. When I asked for the primary battery to be checked, they said they had only done that once, for a crash vehicle. All recall issues have been resolved on this vehicle with this checkup (the only outstanding one was gas pedal and I have never had a problem with it). So this vehicle is good to go. If you pick it up in Camden, you/we must obtain "transit plates" --good for 10 days, either one-way or round-trip--from a Maine Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office--cost is maybe $13.00 Just FYI, Maine's DMV will be closed Sept 3 and Sept 6th for labor day.
