My cousin who has no Ebay experience asked me to list his car for him. He told me the transmission was shot. I drove it around and found no problem. It drove normally. I brought it back to his house and told him, but he insisted so I took it out again and sure enough, this time the reverse wouldn't work. He said that if I kept on driving for a while it would start slipping in forward gears as well. In short, you will need to plunk down $500 or $600 for a used transmission plus whatever it costs to put it in. The engine seems fine, although it has a check-engine light on. It has a current emissions inspection. He bought it in 2003 with 30k from a Toyota dealer. It has never had an accident or mechanical problem until now. It was used for highway commuting.
