Vehicle Detail

Offered for sale is a custom made, unique, 2005 Sprinter conversion van, made by Mercedes, which seats 8 to 9 passengers. Its factory color is "Piedmont Red". It has rare dual side sliding doors. One owner. Vehicle has never been smoked in. Wood floors for easy clean-up of spills. Great for travelling with a family of 8 or 9 or your child's sports team. Back in 2005, Mercedes sold these vans through Dodge and Freightliner dealers. We custom ordered this van through the local Freightliner dealer. Mercedes factory features include dual side sliding doors, heated windshield with rain sensing wipers, rear back-up alarm, 150 amp alternator, auxilliary battery, power front door locks and power front windows and a 2.7 L Turbo Diesel Mercedes engine. I estimate that this diesel van gets around 25 mpg. We then took the vehicle shell and had a high quality conversion done by Creative Mobile Interiors in Grove City, Ohio. This van is still shown on that company's website under their Sprinter portfolio under "family personal luxury vehicle." The factory front seats were replaced with incredibly comfortable Flexsteel leather covered captains chairs. 4 more more swiveling bucket seats were added along with a back leather couch. Couch converts to a bed (never used). Low maintainance laminate wood floors were installed behind the front seats and to the rear of the van. Large tinted side windows were added as was a moon roof, and 2 separate air conditioners with dual controls. Multiple DC plugs and car jacks to plug in and use or charge computers, game boys, cell phones, ipods, inverter for playstation. Electronics: Two 19" Flip-Down TVs. You can watch the same movie on both or different movies at the same time or watch a movie on one and play computer games on the other. Wireless headsets so passengers can listen to tv audio quietly or you can play tv audio over the stereo system. DVD player. VCR player. CD player. XM radio compatible. Little computer screen pops out of the dash, when you turn the van on, and displays video from left and right side view cameras and rear top infrared camera so as to avoid blind sports. It also serves as AM/FM/XM radio. This gizmo was a $1600.00 option. 12 volt cooler. Microwave. 3000 watt inverter. Comes with a small vacuum that plugs into the van to clean up front carpet area. Safety: upgraded parabolic mirrors outfitted with additional convex mirrors and mini-cameras on each side and rear top mounted camera, all of which project on front dash pop out screen. Dual front airbags. Seatbelts for 9. Factory alarm system. Back up alarm. Second alarm system, with pager (currently disconnected because it was too high tech for me). Rear mounted fire extinguisher. Van got us through flash flooding this summer in the San Rafael Swell in Utah and is very reliable and safe with your family. Storage: Custom wood cabinets on both sides of the van. Some storage beneath back couch and underneath compartment. Van includes "Stowaway 2" mounted (but removable) rear storage box with swingaway frame, equipped with tail lights, a locking latch. This was a $603.00 option. This Stowaway 2 box is removable from the rear hitch. It has a drain plug if you want to use it as a huge tail-gating cooler. Comfort: Two separate A/C and heater units cool and heat the whole van. No dead spots. Blows cold A/C. Seats are incredibly comfortable. 4 middle seats swivel. All 6 bucket seats recline. Mechanical: A-1. No mechanical problems. Oil changes done more frequently than the recommended 10,000 mile intervals. Repair Work Done: To ready for sale, in August 2010, I had the local Mercedes dealership do an oil change, replaced 1 broken mud flap, fixed broken glove compartment door, filled in paint chips on front hood that occurred during recent off-roading in Utah and Colorado. Also, I put on 4 brand new tires (less than 10 miles on them), with a Mr Tire 40,000 mile warranty, and new windshield wipers. Electrical issues: Van had an electrical bug from the outset. Batteries would drain after van sat idle for months. We only used it on long trips and sometimes it would sit idle for 8 or 9 months or so. (2009 only did 4,000 miles; 2010 only 6,000 miles). Van converter could not easily find battery drain so problem was solved by adding a rear external plug that charges the van's batteries if van was idle for months. Note - if van is used regularly - once every few weeks - there is no problem. But, if it sits for months, we just plug it in the night before we use it or a few hours in advance of use. Van has never stranded us and we have driven all over the continent. I only mention this in the interest of full disclosure. It has NO effect on the van if you use it even semi-regularly - only if it sits idle for months at a time. Accidents: In June 2008, the van was in a minor fender bender. My wife was stopped at a light and a drunk driver, going 10 to 15 mph, tried to turn left past her, and scraped his car on the van's front bumper. His parents paid the $1428.88 dealership bill to replace the front bumper. I have the paperwork. No insurance claim was made. Manuals and Records: All manuals and maintenance records will go with the van. I also have a large binder, from the van converter, with the schematics on the entire conversion, which will go with the van also. Reasons for sale: Tuition (I have 6 kids in private school and 2 getting near college). Also, in 5 summers, we have driven from Ohio to California, Ohio to Idaho, Ohio to Montana and Banff, Canada; Ohio to Utah and Colorado; and Ohio to Wisconsin and Ohio to the East Coast. No more long trips are planned. Older kids are heading off to college soon and we don't use it much. Only about 10,000 miles, max, in the last 2 years combined. It has been an incredibly reliable vehicle, very comfortable to travel with our 6 kids and very quiet (kids put on their headsets and watch movies and it is quiet for hours!). Reserve: A mere $ 32,500, which is less than the van's shell cost. Between the shell and the conversion, I have at least $72,000 in this vehicle, probably closer to $75,000. Lien: I just sent in the check last week to pay off the lien. Daimler Chrysler cashed the check. I should have the clear title in hand before the auction ends. Comment: This is the best, most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. Body is in great shape for 5 year old vehicle. Interior is in great shape (my wife had seats covers over the 4 bucket seats, and, thus, the seats are in great shape) Van handles well on the highway even over 80 mph on the open road for hours on end and has a very small turning radius, smaller than my Landrover and 2 SUVs. It has handled its share off-roading in the American West. People in our town call it "The Big Red." 95% of the 50,413 miles on the van are "highway" miles. "The Big Red" drives smoothly and is made for the open road. Warranties: None. I am not a car dealer. Van is sold "as is". You are welcome to test drive it and to take it to a local mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. Brand new tires have a 40,000 Mr Tire/Munro warranty. Payement Methods: Deposit of $1,000 due within 72 hours of sale (that part can be by Paypal or certified check or wire transfer). Balance via certified bank check or wire transfer or money order. Van will not be released until your funds clear my bank. If you need financing, line it up before the auction ends. Your winning bid is an enforceable contract and, thus, please only bid if you can afford or finance the purchase. Shipping: Buyer needs to make own arrangements at Buyer's costs. Pickup: We are about 15 miles west of Cleveland, Ohio in Bay Village. I can pick up any out of town winning buyer at the Cleveland airport (20 minute drive). Pick up van only after your funds clear my bank (Huntington Bank or PNC Bank).
