Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Hi all, Up for auction: 1949 Ford Tudor Sedan Location: West Los Angeles, CA 1 minute off the 405 Freeway and Sunset Blvd. exit. RESTRICTION: CAR MUST BE PICKED UP LOCALLY ON OR BY Sept 2nd, 2010. I am leaving for abroad the day after that, sorry. If you can't pick it up or arrange to have it picked up by then, please do not bid. I purchased Ford 8 years ago with the intention to eventually chop it and slam it with a fatman clip or airbags. ShortIy after I wound up moving abroad for work, and now many years later, I have a wife and family, so no more time or money at the moment to do the car up the way I wanted. This car has sat in the meantime and I’d rather see it go to someone who will customize it how they want and use it. I will do my best to describe most things about the trailer. I hate deceptive description as much as you do and I would rather have you think worse of the car by the description and be pleasantly surprised by it in person. I’m starting this auction as a $1 no reserve auction, so I’ll let you guys determine the worth of the car, but I’m pretty sure whoever gets it will be getting a good deal. The car DOES need work and is currently not driveable. You will need to have it TOWED or FLATBEDDED back to your house/shop. The brakes are not working , I’m assuming from sitting so long. Also the electronic fuel pump is not pumping, perhaps from old wiring. However, won’t take much for the mechanically inclined to get her up and running. Details: Originally a Canadian car. Interior: Burgundy velvet interior with matching carpeting and headliner. It is worn and the interior should be redone. Seats are T-Bird. There is no radio, but there is a hole for the radio. Exterior: The paint job is a 10 foot paintjob. Can be driven as-is while you decide what to do with it, but will require a clay blocking to get out the older grime. There are some paint chips in various edges of the car near trunk, fender wells, and some cracks. Overall the body shape is in good condition – the curb side front fender has a slight bulge that will need to be straightened a bit and the driver side door has a 4 inch long slight scratch/indent. Most of the other flaws are mainly cosmetic on the paint, which you will most likely be redoing anyhow. Hood is nicely louvered, trim filled and smoothed. See the pictures for the details. Engine: Engine turns over and starts. Still runs strong, started engine and ran it for a little bit. Electric fuel pump was not working so I was using a small bottle pouring gas directly into the carb. 350 SBC V8 4V QJ Previous owner claimed less than 100 miles on the pro HO built powertrain, I put only a few more on top of that: Weiand Alum single plane ported intake, alloy valve covers, HEI distributor, Super Stock wires, Crane roller rockers 1.5 ratio, Crane pushrods, Isky Cam, 327 Corvette camel bump 202 heads, flex fan. 4 bolt 350 bored .30 over, 11.5 to 1 forged pistons, solid lifters, shotpeened rods, chrome moly rings, stainless valves and triple springs. Transmission is a 3 speed auto TH400 with B&M Shift Kit. The shift linkage is a bit sloppy, so this will need to be gone through. Wheels are American Racing Chrome Alloy Mags 15X7 with Steel Belted Radial P205 75R15 tires. The chrome has rusted around the inner rings due to neglect so you will probably not run these. Brakes: As stated the brakes are not working, most likely due to the car sitting so long and the brake fluid gone bad or the lines soft. I saw no fluid leak of any kind under the car so it is not due to a leak. Also, the hand brake is also not firm and needs to be adjusted. Overall, this car will make an excellent base for a restoration or a custom job.The car MUST BE PICKED UP LOCALLY on or by September 2nd. I'm sorry for the tight schedule, as I have to go back abroad the following day. Also please feel free to ask my any questions or if you need to see the car you can arrange with me. I may not be able to answer many of your questions, but I will do my best. I will require a $100 non-refundable paypal deposit with 48 hours after the auction. If you win and are unable to pickup the car by the specified date, the deposit will be non-refundable - sorry but I need to have this sold. Thanks,Stephen
