Vehicle Detail
I am selling this 1950 Nash Rambler convertible which is very rare car to find. This was the same model Lois Lane drove in the Superman TV series in the fifties! Not THE car but the same model! The color is Champayne Ivory with Black top. Top is in good condition. Look under NADA or Old Cars Price Guide for value on this rare car. Body is very solid. No sign of any rust in body panels or floors. I think the outer rockers have been replaced sometime but look good now. Trunk is also solid. Car has new tires, battery, exhaust. tuneup items , brakes have been bled and work good, gas tank has been cleaned . The interior is in great shape. Black vinyl seats and door panels were redone several years ago. Actual mileage unknown. The car needs hood ornament, top motor does not work, not currently running but engine does turn over by hand or starter. I am going to be honest on this car and tell you what it needs. I pulled the head when I got it and it has two stuck intake valves, on #3 and #6 cylinders. I presume this was caused by old gas turned to varnish. I have tried everything I know to get them free and finally decided to let someone else work on it now. I put the head and all back together as it was. I know it is easier if you start from scratch rather than where someone else left off. The other cylinders had compression around 110 lbs. so I think if the valves were freed, it would run. I was wanting to replace the dual carburetors with original single carb also. Someone put this aluminum head with dual carbs on it from I believe a 54 Nash. This is a neat little car and with a little mechanical work and some minor paint touchup, would be a great and rare classic to own. They only produced 9,330 of these in 1950. This is the "Little Nash Rambler" car that the 50's song "Beep Beep" was all about. One picture shows the Rambler next to my Statesman so as to compare size. Any questions or other pictures, call me. They were missing but I found them and never got them on the car. Also have part of the winged nude hood ornament. I believe the wings are missing on it. It includes the lady and the base only. On Aug-17-10 at 12:29:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have two books that go with the Rambler. One is a Nash diagnostic instruction manual and the other is a service manual for 1950 Nash "Rambler Series". Both are in good condition. The service manual covers repairing of the Convertible mechanism in much detail.
