Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a used 1976 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1500 for sale by it's original owner. This car does not run and has not since 1991. It has been stored in a pole barn since 1992. This car was my wife's first new car and I am listing it for her. She purchased it new in Clearwater Florida in May of 1976. It was manufactured in September 1975. She drove it until May of 1979 at which time it was submerged in a flood in Clearwater, Florida. It was totaled by the insurance company and then she bought it back from them at that time. She brought the car after that back to her hometown in Illinois where she took it apart down to the frame and then put it mostly back together. It didn't run again until 1991 and it was driven from Illinois to Michigan where it is now and has not been driven since 1991. The car was repainted in it's original color with lacquer but was never wheeled out. There are various scratches and some rusting I tried to show in pictures as best I can. The interior trim is not all put back in as well as some other exterior trim pieces. The seats are solid. The back window in the rag top is shot. Probably all seals in the braking and clutch systems would have to be replaced as only the parking brake works. Has slight lean to one side as rear spring must be weak. The odometer states 18,449 miles which is not accurate as the speedometer and odometer do not work. It does come with a spare tire. There is a box of various trim pieces to be put on. This car does not come with a battery. If you are interested in this car remember the BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING! There is a lot of solid metal left in this car to make for a good project car or a real good parts source. Feel free to ask questions.THANKS FOR LOOKING and GOOD LUCK BIDDING!
