Vehicle Detail
1942 CHEVY MASTER DELUXE TUDOR SEDAN Guys, I'll tell you right now, this car is a a bargain! I am selling it for a dear friend who has become very ill. There is no reserve - starting bid is far below his investment. Below I have provided a very accurate and thorough description - both the good and the not so good. I want you to know what you are bidding on. If you have ANY questions, please let me know promptly. I will do my best to answer them quickly and completely. EXTERIOR: Overall VERY nice. The black paint is Centari and was done in 2007. It is not perfect but VERY presentable. The required body work was done nicely. Necessary patch work was metal. Floors were actually quite nice and required little. Trunk floor was even nicer. Bumpers and guards were re-plated. Stainless is very presentable. The stainless on the rockers is new. Grille is nice & presentable but there are pits in the chrome. Door handles are pitted. Doors, hood and trunk open and close nicely. Windshields were replaced with modern safety glass. The remaining glass was and is very nice. Wiper transmissions are pitted. Fulton visor is very nice. Fog lamps are era correct and were NOS when installed in 2007. The undercarriage is clean. INTERIOR: Upholstery was professionally redone in 2007. Please inspect the photos carefully. Seats, headliner, door panels & carpeting were all new at that time. All dash gauges work except the trip meter. The speedometer was cleaned, oiled, calibrated and reset to zero miles. The clock works when it wants to :) Both the radio and heater are authentic '42 and work. Windshield wipers work. DRIVE TRAIN: Original engine was replaced with a 1956 235CID. This engine runs very nicely. Most of you are aware that the engines look nearly identical & bolt right in place of the smaller CID of '42. This was a common 'upgrade'. The engine compartment was detailed nicely in 2007. It still appears nice & clean. Clutch was replaced in 2007 as well. Transmission shifts well. Brakes were gone completely through of course. New wheel cylinders and master cylinder. Radial tires are decent. This car has the optional 15" diameter Chevy wheels & original hubcaps. Starter, generator, carburetor were all professionally rebuilt. New fuel pump in 2007. Authentic lever arm shocks function. Complete new exhaust system. Fuel tank was boiled out and sealed. Original 6v. system. Radiator was re-cored. SUMMARY: This is as you know a fairly rare car. It drives nicely and as you've read above, a LOT of work has been done to make this vehicle reliable. I'd not be shy to take this car out for a 'cruise night'. You can indeed drive this car as is NOW. My friend does not really want to sell this but no BS, he truly is very ill and the bills from health care are forcing this sale. TERMS: I must receive a $500 non-refundable deposit with 24 hours of the end of the auction. Balance must be paid within 10 days of auction end by (preferably) wire transfer or cashiers check. Or, at the time of pick up with cash. The title is clear. The car is sold as is, where is. Ask questions before you buy. I have done my very best to describe this vehicle accurately. I will help make arrangements for delivery if desired. Unless arrangements have been made prior to the auctions end, the car must be picked up within 14 days of the end of the auction. Car is located at the very Southeast corner of Wisconsin, near the Illinois border. Very close to the Interstate highway, I-94. EXTRAS: Included with the vehicle are two owners manuals, an authentic 1942 Chevrolet service manual, an extra rebuilt starter and a new vacuum shift booster for the transmission. There will probably be additional parts included as well.
