Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1978 Honda CX500. This bike has a clear title and is in great running condition. I rebuilt this motorcycle this summer and did a few custom mods to it. I ride this bike to and from work just about every sunny day and I NEVER ride it in the rain. The bike runs absolutely fantastic when riding it. It does have a little trouble starting if its been sitting cold for more than a day, once its warmed up it will start in an instant. I think the carbs just need a little fine tuning to clear the cold starting up. I have all of the original parts for the bike including a nearly complete parts bike. The frame on this bike does have some light surface rust but nothing major. The parts bike has a nearly perfect frame on it as is the rest of the parts on the parts bike. My plan was to do a complete ground up rebuild on this bike over the winter but I'd rather sell it and move onto a different project. This bike is punk and has a lot of charecter. The bike gets looks everywhere I take it. I would also like to point out that I am 6' 4" and about 270lbs and this bike is super comfortable for me to ride every day to work. I love this bike. Check out the VIDEOS below!! Latest pictures of the completed bike Pictures and Videos of the blinkers Pictures of the bike before paint Pictures of the bike before the rebuild and some of the extra parts Pictures of the 2nd (parts) motorcycle and some more extra parts Walkaround video with running lights on Walkaround video with running lights and blinkers on Video of bike cold start and running plus walk around while running ***Please note that the parts bike is INCLUDED in the final auction price. (However don't feel obligated to take the parts bike, if you don't want it you don't have to take it) Custom mods that I put on: - Black Drag Bars- Bar End Mirrors- Bobber/Cafe style seat- Chromeglow.com LED flexible arrays running lights/turn signals in the front- Chromeglow.com LED flexible arrays integrated brake/running/turn signals in the rear- I chopped the rear end off of it to shorten up the rear end The paint job is an all flat black spray can job done very well in my garage. The gas tank would look a little better if it were sanded down a little better and repainted but I also have another gas tank that I'll throw in with the bike if you use the buy it now....actually Ill throw in a nearly complete parts bike of the exact same model and year if you use buy it now. The valve covers are painted with 500 degree semi-gloss black rustoleum paint. The exhaust from the headers to the mufflers are painted with 5000 degree flat black rustoleum paint and is perfectly smooth. The gas tank is painted flat black rustoleum paint. The front fairing is also painted flat black rustoleum paint. I just finished this bike in terms of road worthiness about a month ago and I have ridden her every sunny day since than. The bike has not seen rain or water in general since I have owned her. This bike is a smooth runner and sounds amazing. I am 6' 4" tall and about 260 lbs and even with me on it this bike has a ton of torque and pulls very fast! I honostly do not want to sell this bike but my wife and I just found out she is pregnant and we could use some extra funding for the baby. However, I am not desperate for money and I will only sell it if it goes for a decent price. This bike makes me enough money just by saving gas money by using her as a daily rider to work every day. I do believe in a true auction style sale though so this bike is not for sale locally, bid high and bid often because the highest bidder gets the bike! There are no warranties expressed or implied. This motorcycle is being sold as-is where-is. I will assist in shipping this motorcycle by draining all of the fluids and disconnecting the battery and making myself available for your shipping company to pick the bike up from my home. I will also assist you in loading this motorcycle into your trailer or truck if need be. This bike is currently registered and insured in Indiana and is still being ridden daily to and from work. The bikes title is clear and in hand. I will sign it over to you at the moment of the transaction. Please only serious bidders. If you have less than 10 positive feedback please send me a message or email prior to bidding. If you have any questions at all please just ask me. My email goes right to my cell phone so I generally answer within 30 minutes at the most. If you would like more pictures or pictures of specific areas just ask and Ill send them to you. The first 11 pictures in this listing are of the running complete bike, the rest of the pictures are of the parts bike that I will throw in if you use buy it now. The parts bike has a lot more parts than whats in the pictures theyre just in boxes. Some History On This Bike I purchased this bike from a local person here in Indiana around mid April of this year. The man said that the bike was his fathers motorcycle and that he had owned it since it was new and he was selling the bike because his father passed away and he just didnt have room for it anymore. When I bought the motorcyle it was in a few pieces. The gentleman had both of the heads off of it and the exhaust H-Box was rotted out. I bought the bike and took it home and started cleaning it. I scrubbed the whole thing down as it was very dusty, and got the bike shining again. I began putting the bike back together by scrubbing the piston heads to get the carbon off of it and make them shine. I was very meticulous about getting any and all dust specks and dirt from the cylinders by utilizing shop rags, carb cleaner and q-tips :). I did the same to the cylinder heads by scrubbing all of the carbon off of the valves and the head and going through the whole thing with q-tips and brake cleaner until it was shiny like new. I then scraped off all of the old head gaskets and scrubbed the heads and engine so there was no trace of old gasket left and I installed the new head gaskets and cleaned heads. I was fortunate enough to find another local bike of the same exact model and year as mine that I picked up and started picking parts from. I took the front fairing from the parts bike and put it on there because I just love the small fairing with the round headlight (my bike came with the giant goldwing style fairing....**Which I still have and will include in the auction if you want it, the windshield on it is perfect) I sanded down the gas tank and took the Honda emblems off of it and filled in the slots with bondo and sanded and painted it. I still have all of the OEM Honda emlblems from the bike that Ill include in the auction. I installed the carbs on the bike and she started right up with only a few cranks. The only thing I did with the carbs was I took the bowls off and took the floats off and cleaned the bottom half of the carbs up real well, put it back together and she runs sooooo nice. I really dont want to get rid of this bike but I'm going to have to if it will go for the right price. I would like to point out that although there are some cosmetic flaws on the complete bike that I am selling, all of the items on the parts bike are in nearly brand new condition. ********** SHIPPING: I will assist you in shipping this bike by draining the fluids and disconnecting the battery and making myself available for when your shipping company comes to my house. DISCLAIMER: This bike is also listed for sale locally. I would rather the bike go to the highest bidder however if my asking price is offered $1300 locally than I will have to take it. My wife is pregnant so we really need the money! QUESTIONS: If you have absolutely ANY questions please email me. I will respond within a couple of hours! VALIDITY: You're welcome to come meet this bike in person before deciding to buy. I believe in fair auctions and I try to explain my items to the best of my ability and I want you, the buyer, to feel confident in your purchase. TITLES: I have clean and clear titles for both the complete running bike and the parts bike. Both of these bikes are titled to my name and in Indiana. The complete bike is currently insured, registered, and tagged in Indiana! On Aug-11-10 at 19:45:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to point out that there are a lot more parts for the parts bike that are in boxes that you don't see in the pictures. Also, I have most all of the stock parts that I took off of the custom bike still so you'll get some double spare parts too. On Aug-12-10 at 06:38:42 PDT, seller added the following information: This auction is for TWO motorcycles. The winning bidder will get the custom bike AND the parts bike! Apparently I wasn't perfectly clear in the description and I suppose I should have included this in the auction title. Winning bidder gets BOTH motorcycles!!!!On Aug-12-10 at 10:02:28 PDT, seller added the following information: *****SHIPPING: For all you out of staters that want this bike shipped. I just received a quote from uship.com for $600 to ship both bikes. I dont know if that will be the exact amount or not but either way shipping is left up to you! The only part that I will play in the shipping process is assisting in getting it ready for shipment and making myself available for the shippers to come pick the bike up. The buyer will be responsible for organizing and paying the shipping company directly. Thanks a lot!!
