Vehicle Description 1953 Porsche 356 Mileage unknown. Has 3400 miles on speedometer since completion of restoration in 2006. Car Specifications and Details: Chassis: Vin # 11978 This is 1953 Model that was Manufactured in 1952. 1952 production for the 1953 model was from Chassis number 11779-12084 Engine # Original engine P*30920 type 546 1500, Current engine P*32116 type 546 1500 Transmission type 519 #372 Color: Azure blue /C522 Interior Grey 2 Dr. Coupe Restoration work performed in 2004-2006 included. Body completely stripped and media blasted, body straightened and replaced longitudinal, jack spurs and battery box. Rear clip had some un restorable mechanical damage was replaced with a new rear clip from Trevor Hammer Works . Body work and final painting and finish were done by a noted local restorer in the Portland, area. Running gear was rebuilt including brakes. New adjustable Koni shocks, correct early shock mount brackets on axle tubes. Transmission was rebuilt. This transmission has a slight whine. This transmission is a very early 519 with single front mount, and the early transmission hoop type mounting bracket. Correct 16 inch wheels were restored. Tires are new Dunlop’s Interior was from Autos International. Seats are mice grey corduroy, Gray wool headliner. Grey German tweed carpets. Installation was done by Guy’s interiors. Core engine was purchased and restored to replace lost/ junked Original engine. Previous owner replaced the original engine with a 1957 1600 Normal Porsche engine. The current engine in the car P*32116 is exactly the same type and configuration as the original engine. These engine with Internal designation 546 were manufactured 9/52-11/54. Which is a normal 1500 plain bearing engine. Restored Engine has been fitted with modern cylinders and pistons from Shasta Design, restored Solex carbs by Harry Bieker, engine machine work, rebuilt heads, bearings and assembly by Dan Hall Machine shop, new flywheel and clutch, rebuilt D regulator, new starter, new super exhaust, correct wide flap heater boxes, etc. New front windshield with rubber seal, new rear window with rubber seal. Car is very clean and correct in almost every respect possible. Noted small issues are, interior dome light does not work, choke cable needs to be replaced, and Stork oil temperature gauge does not work ( missing capillary and probe). Have probe in engine compartment to check oil temp. SOLD AS IS. Inspections invited. Clean and clear Oregon title in my name. Car has current Oregon registration.
