Vehicle Detail
Just look at the profile of this bike. It has to be the most aesthetically pleasing looking motorcycle that ever was and ever could be. Better than a 750 Bonneville could ever look. These were pre turn signal days when bikes were pure and simple. This bike kicks over effortlessly unlike a 750 Bonnieville, yet it performs just as well. This little engine has loads of power and torque. It starts first kick, burns no oil, and sounds magnificent as it screams through the four gears. There is nothing wrong with the engine, transmission or clutch in any way. There is nothing wrong with the motorcycle in any way, other than a slight tear on the seat and a dent on the tank. The dent is just in front of the left legend plate. It was caused by the fork stop screw coming out and the fork turned too far and bent the tank and the tip of the legend plate. The photos clearly show these details. The fork stop was replaced. The dent is not very noticable. The brakes are excellent. The tires are like new. The lights, tachometer and speedometer work. There is no horn or it does not work. I bought this bike about five years ago from someone who had been storing it himself for years. I put it in the lobby of our manufacturing facility in Farmington Connecticut. There is sat for all customers to admire as they entered our building. If you check my item history you will see that I sold many of my vintage motorcycles which adorned our factory lobby. Reason for selling? My son starts graduate school and the sale of my bikes will pay tuition (for a year only!) After that he gets his own student loan. I changed the gas, and oil, put in two new plugs and a new battery and cleaned the carbs. It started right up and purrs like a kitten. I have a set of "new old stock" chrome exhaust pipes that do not go with the bike but we can talk about what they would go for if you buy the bike. Or I will list them separately later. Older bikes do not require a title, just the registration. I did not register the bike but I have the registration from the prior owner. The bike burns no oil but in the Triumph tradition it does leak oil. All Triumphs leak oil. This one leaks about a teaspoon or up to a tablespoon a day I estimate. Expect to put a rag under the bike in the garage. I assure you that this is not unusual for any vintage Triumph. I read that when the Guggenheim Museum had "The Art Of The Motorcycle" worldwide tour, they were required to have all motorcycles in the exhibit be drained of all gas, oil, and any fluids. It was reported with all seriousness that the Triumphs leaked oil when there was no oil in them! An incredible true story. The bike can be viewed and we can go for a ride up until August 12th. Call me with any questions on my cell 860 463 9790 up until the 12th. After that call me on my international phone #860 463 4845 as I will be out of the country returning the 20th. The bike can be viewed at 20 Executive Drive Farmington CT. I can deliver on a trailer for a reasonable fee if mutually agreed to. I often drive to the Newburgh Poughkeepsie NY area, Boston and NYC. If the bike does not start and perform as I am describing you can walk away from the deal. This is a nice solid bike. Some of the chrome is pitted as you can see on the head light, but who wants a show bike? This is a bike to ride every day and leave in the sun and rain without worry.
