THIS IS A RARE FIND AND NOT ONE THAT I WANT TO SELL BUT LIKE MANY OF US AMERICANS WE ARE FORCED TO SOMETIMES GIVE UP ON THE THINGS WE NEVER THOUGHT WE WOULD LOSE. I'VE BEEN THE PROUD OWNER OF THIS 1963 SPLIT WINDOW SINCE 1987. AFTER LOSING EVERYTHING IN A DIVORCE I WANTED TO GET A CORVETTE, MY DREAM CAR. AFTER LOOKING AT SEVERAL, I FOUND THIS ONE IN SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA. THE PREVIOUS OWNER BELONGED TO SANTA CRUZ CORVETTE CLUB. I SET UP A TIME TO MEET IN SCOTTS VALLEY JUST EAST OF SANTA CRUZ TO VIEW THE CAR AT THE SAFEWAY PARKING LOT. MY FRIEND AND I GOT THERE EARLY AND WAITED PATIENTLY AND THEN WE HEARD THIS RUMBLE, THE SOUND OF A TRUE MUSCLE CAR. I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES AS THIS ONE PULLED UP THE DRIVE AND INTO THE PARKING LOT, MY HEART WAS RACING, NO OTHER VETTE COULD COME CLOSE TO THE WAY THIS ONE MADE ME FEEL, I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT AS IT HAS A LOOK ALL HER OWN. AS THE OWNER PULLED UP AND ROLLED DOWN HIS WINDOW HE ASKED, "ARE YOU HANK ?" AND I SAID YES, HE SAID HOP IN AND I'LL TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE. I HAD MY FRIEND FOLLOW US IN MY TRUCK AND AS THE VETTE, OTHER WISE KNOW AS "BLACK MAGIC " GOT ON TO THE MOUNTAIN ROAD HE SHOWED ME WHAT SHE COULD DO, THIS HOPPED UP 350, 4 BOLT MAIN, BALANCED AND MACHINED TO EXCEED 10,000 RPM'S SET ME BACK IN THE SEAT LIKE NO OTHER HOT ROD HAS EVER DONE. WITH IN A SHORT TIME I LOOKED BACK TO SEE WHERE MY FRIEND WAS AND HE WAS NO WHERE IN SIGHT SO WE PULLED OVER AND WAITED AND WAITED AND WAITED AND FINALLY HE CATCHES UP. HE SAID ONE SECOND YOU WERE THERE AND THEN ALL HE SEEN WAS A CLOUD OF SMOKE FROM THE TIRES AND THEN WE WERE GONE AND THEN I LEARNED OF THE REASON THE OWNER NAMED HER "BLK MGCK"AS THE PLATES READ AND YES THEY DO GO WITH THE CAR. MY SEARCH WAS OVER AS EVEN TO THIS DAY I WOULD WANT NO OTHER CAR AND KNOW THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER CAR LIKE THIS ONE. I HAD TO TAKE A BREAK FROM WRITING THIS LETTER AS I CAN'T BELIEVE IT ACTUALLY GOT ME CHOKED UP THINKING ABOUT IT, I GUESS AFTER HAVING HER FOR SO LONG THAT IT REALLY FEELS LIKE SHE'S A PART OF ME AND I KNOW WHO EVER GETS HER WILL FEEL THE SAME WAY, THIS IS NO ORDINARY CAR SO PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF HER. I CAN GO ON AND ON WITH SOME OF THE CRAZIEST STORIES AND GOOD TIMES I'VE HAD WITH THIS CAR BUT TO KEEP FROM PURGING MYSELF BY PLASTERING IT ALL OVER THE WEB, MAYBE SOMEDAY I WILL TELL YOU ABOUT THEM AFTER YOU WIN HER. IF THE CAR GOES OVER $60 K, I WILL INCLUDE THE MOTOR THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WHEN I GOT HER WHICH IS A EARLY 70'S, 350 CHEVY, 4 BOLT MAIN, 30/30 GRIND CAM, CRANE ROLLER ROCKERS, BIG BORE DOUBLE HUMP HEADS AND BALANCED TO RUN SMOOTH AT 10,000.00 RPM'S. I REPLACED THE MOTOR WITH ANOTHER BUILT 350 CHEVY, 4 BOLT MAIN PUT TOGETHER BY JOE LENARD JR WHO'S FATHER WAS A FAMOUS INDI. DRIVER. THE 350 THAT CAME WITH THE CAR HAD SOME SCORING ON THE 8TH CYLINDER WALL THAT CAUSED THE SPARK PLUG TO FOUL OUT EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES. AFTER PULLING THE MOTOR AND REPLACING IT I HAD IT INSPECTED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE BORED OUT TO REMOVE THE SCORING. THE NEW MOTOR IN IT HAS LESS THEN 5 K MILES ON IT. THE MOTOR FIRES RIGHT UP AND STILL HAS A NICE RUMBLE TO IT AND WILL STILL SET YOU BACK IN YOUR SEAT. THE TRANSMISSION IN IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT WAS A 4 SPEED T-10 AND AFTER A FEW YEARS IT GAVE OUT BUT I WAS FORTUNATE TO FIND A SUPER T-10 THAT IS A MUCH BETTER TRANSMISSION THAT IS DESIGNED FOR RACING. THE FRONT BREAKS WERE RE-FITTED WITH HEAVY DUTY DISC BRAKES, THE PAINT IS LACQUER BLACK THAT STILL HAS A NICE SHINE, IT WAS JUST PAINTED WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN 1987, IT HAS A FEW SIGNS OF WEAR AND ONCE I WAS DRIVING IN THE JC PENNIES PARKING LOT AT EASTRIDGE SHOPPING MALL AND COULDN'T SEE THE DIP IN THE ROAD THAT WAS LIKE A REVERSE SPEED BUMP AND IT CAUSED THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE TO BUMP UP TO THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE FLARE ON THE FRONT WHEEL WELL CAUSING IT TO CRACK THE PAINT. I WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL AUTO BODY MEN THAT IT WAS AN EASY REPAIR. AS IN THE PICTURES YOU CAN SEE THE FLARES THAT WERE DONE VERY PROFESSIONALLY THAT LOOK GREAT ON THIS CAR, NOT GODDY AT ALL. IT ALSO HAS A 1967 HOOD ON IT THAT IS FUNCTIONING AND THE FRONT TURN SIGNALS WERE MOLDED IN TO GIVE IT A SMOOTHER LOOK. WITH ALL THE WORK DONE TO THIS CAR IT REALLY STANDS OUT. THE STOCK RADIO WAS REPLACED WITH A PIONEER AM/FM SUPER TUNER CASETTE AND 6X9 TRIAXELS IN THE BACK LID JUST BEHIND THE SEAT WHICH SOUNDS GREAT AND HAS AWSOME ACUSTICS. WELL, I'M GOING TO MISS HER AND I WILL TALK ABOUT HER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE BUT FOR ANY REASON YOU DECIDE TO SELL HER IN THE FUTURE I WOULD HOPE TO BE FIRST IN LINE TO BUY HER BACK, IF THINGS WERE DIFFERENT AND I WASN'T IN SUCH A BIND I WOULDN'T EVER THINK OF SELLING HER SO PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF HER.
