Vehicle Detail
I listed this bike last week, but my reserve was not met. I have lowered my reserve to the average of KBB and NADA book values. For that price, the STOCK windshield will go with the bike NOT the Cee Bailey's that is pictured. I will not list this motorcycle again if it does not sell this time around. I am not interested in trades of any kind. This auction may end at any time due to now being listed locally for sale as well as here. The first person to lay $5,600 cash in my hands goes home with a practically new bike that I paid $6,700 for (not including taxes) just 3 months ago. Up for grabs is a like-new 2009 Suzuki DL-650 V-Strom. I purchased it brand new 3 months ago, and I have a clean VA title in hand for easy, hassle-free transfer of ownership. There is 9 months factory warranty remaining that is transferrable to the new owner. Extended warranty can still be purchased in the remaining warranty period. (I verified this information with the selling dealer) It is money out the window in my opinion, as the V-Strom is one of the most reliable motorcycles available today. I know several owners who have logged 80,000 miles or more with no issues. I just read an online post last week where one gentleman logged over 130,000 miles with no major issues. For those who don't know much about the V-Strom, it is considered a dual-sport, but is more street oriented. It will cruise 90 mph on the slab effortlessly. It is a fuel-injected, liquid cooled, dual-sparkplug head V-Twin that produces approximately 65 hp, and will rev to the moon. It is very smooth for a twin, and very punchy for a 650. The ergos are very roomy and upright. Larger guys have plenty of room to move around. The 5.8 gallon tank will allow 275-300 miles to a fill up. I was averaging close to 60 mpg. The V-Strom currently has 3,400 trouble free miles on the odometer, and that may fluctuate by a couple hundred miles or so by time this auction is over. The bike is in excellent condition, and all maintenance is up to date. No wrecks, no tip overs, no scrapes, scratches, or dents. The bike has never been taken off road. I have other bikes for that. This bike was purchased to be used for commuting, which it does extremely well. It is garage kept on a battery tender when not in use. (Battery Tender not included) Additions / modifications: Black powdercoat stripped from rims. Stock muffler modified to slightly increase sound. It is still much quieter than a slip-on, but maintains the stock appearance. Stock seat foam modified to remove some of the restrictive dished seating position. The result is more room to move around while retaining stock appearance. $200 deposit via PayPal required within 48 hours for winning bidder. Balance to be paid in cash at time of pick up. I will coordinate with buyer to be here at time of pickup if being shipped. All shipping expenses to be paid by buyer. Ask questions and I will respond in a timely manner. If you find the motorcycle to be anything other than what I have described, you are not obligated to complete the transaction. Bidding on this item constitutes that you have read the listing and agree to my terms of sale. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Thank you for looking. Good luck bidding. On Jul-23-10 at 11:28:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to add that I have owned 50 plus motorcycles over the past 20 years. I have owned many touring bikes and many high horsepower sportbikes that were modified to the limit. Many bikes are one dimensional as far as how they can be used. Big touring bikes don't like to be put through their paces in the twisties. Sportbikes tend to get upset when the road isn't perfectly manicured. This V-Strom is the best of both worlds. Great comfort and long distance ability married to backroad agility. When a gravel backroad comes along, you can find out where it leads. Not something you'd be very comfortable doing on a heavier, high horsepower bike with less suspension travel. Many experienced V-Strom pilots will tell you that the 650 is preferred to the 1000 in many cases. The 1000 is preferred if you plan on doing a bunch of two-up interstate travel. (even though the 650 does just fine as a two-up tourer) In most other scenarios, the 40 lb lighter 650 with the smoother and more fuel efficient engine is preferred. I've read many online write-ups of the 650 outhandling the 1000 in the twisties. The power delivery of the 650 is quite impressive and never left me wanting for power. I sold a nice ST1300 when buying the 650, and it's hard to believe, but the smoothness of this bike is on par with the ST. The same can be said for the comfort. The only thing I miss about the ST is the electrically adjustable wind screen. Anyway, enough rambling. I just wanted to say that this bike is very satisfying - even to experienced riders. I am only selling to finance a new industrial welder purchase. This is the second and last time I will be listing this for sale. If there is no sale this time around, I will just continue to log commuting miles with a big grin. Thank you for looking.
