Up for sale is my dads 1979 Trans Am S/E. He Purchased it in 1999 and the car has been in a garage ever since. The car was stored correctly and with the intention of a restoration. He is getting old, his health is failing and he never got around to fixing it up. As a member of the motion picture industry for 40 yrs, he worked many well known sets... including Smokey and the Bandit 2. I believe that is where he picked up a love for these cars but never had the chance to do anything with this Poncho by the time he finally got one. At 68, with 2 knee replacements and colon cancer... its not getting finished here. 1979 Trans Am S/E RPO y84 134,xxx original miles 1973 Pontiac 455 auto trans It has A/C cruise tilt pwr windows and locks fisher t-tops rebuilt front end before parked motor was fresh when it was installed @ 129k... 11 yrs ago Floor, rockers and rear 1/4s are solid as best i can tell. The car wears its original paint and the lower you go on the body the more it shines. I had my trusty magnet with me, so no bondo or anything. Trunk is showing signs of some rust. Mostly surface. Car comes with a set of window louvres, original spare tire, t-top bag, hood springs, an extra motor mount NIB, a new fuel pump (connected) and any other misc stuff laying around... i.e. complementary copy of smokey & the bandit, a "show em your bird" vintage t-shirt, BAN ONE & Georgia tags etc... Here is the deal with the car. 1st and foremost, i am not a mechanic. this is what has been done since removal from its garage 3 wks ago: Oil change tune up stuff 10 gallons premium fuel ( tank was drained before parked) took it off its blocks flatbed ride home to my house flushed motor out. Radiator is in trunk, had sprung a leak. fix it, it is a 4 core copper/brass unit. Carb needs rebuild. This is a project. It needs someone to restore or modify... whichever the high bidder chooses to do. It is not something he can or wants to keep with hospital bills piling up. It is under a car cover now that it isnt in the garage anymore. this is a PROJECT not a DRIVER.
