Up for auction is an freshly restored 1959 El Camino. No expense was spared on this car and virtually everything is new. This may be one of the best examples of a 59 El Camino out there! This car was built and spent its life in California. It still has the California 1 piece bumpers. It was a factory heater delete big block car. This car has a very interesting history! It was owned by Tony Butala of the 60’s pop group , “The Letterman”. The Lettermen are an American male pop music vocal trio. The Lettermen's trademark is close-harmony pop songs with light arrangements. The group started in 1959, They have had 16 Top 10 singles including one #1, 32 consecutive Billboard Albums, 11 gold records, and five Grammy nominations. They were inducted into the vocal hall of fame is 2001. Just a few of there hits include: “Your just good to be true” “Put your head on my shoulder” “I only have eyes for you” “Somewhere my love” “going out of my head” And many more ….. The history of the car gets even better. 15 years ago, Tony donated the car to the famous “ Quaker Steak and Lube” restaurant in PA. The car was on display there, as “The Lettermen’s car” until 2008, when it was removed to undergo a complete restoration. The display plaque that was in the car while in the restaurant is included with the sale. The car has a California title, which still has Tony Butala’s name on it! The restoration was recently completed and the car has had less than 20 miles since! The car has a brand new professionally installed air ride suspension. The ride height can be completely adjusted by the press of a button. Only the best parts were used from companies such as Air Ride technologies, Viair, ect. The suspension is adjustable by toggle switches that are located under the dash. You can set the ride height at whatever you like. There are gauges to monitor the air in the bags. This is a bolt on setup. Nothing was cut or altered. The car could easily be taken back to stock without any signs of being altered. The Wheels and tires are also brand new. They are 2 piece billet, 20s in the rear and 18s in the front They are wrapped in new z rated rubber. A new disc brake kit was installed on the front end. The interior is all new and looks great. Headliner, carpet, seat, door panels, dash, ect have all been redone. The paint and bodywork were just refinished and look great! New quarters were installed, and the car is very straight! No expense was spared on the paint and body. It is near flawless. Not a single nick, scratch, or ding! The stainless was all refinished or replaced and looks great! The motor is a rebuilt 327 with a mild cam. It has an aluminum intake and Holley carb. It has new finned aluminum valve covers and air breather. The tranny is a 2 speed powerglide.
