It is time for you to rejoice in the glory that is this beautiful and rare 1966 Porsche 912. Finished in lovely and original Irish Green over a black interior, this 912 is truly a Porsche classic. Distinguishable by its three dial, painted "button" dash, it is genuinely a period correct early production 912. Manufactured in the second-half of 1965, this 912 is one of the first 1,500 out of 34,959 912's manufactured between 1965 and 1969. It has been restored to fantastic quality and the history has been well documented. A California car its entire life until it came to North Carolina in late 2009. Originally purchased in West Germany, it was brought to America by a soldier in the Army who lived in California. It then was sold in 1969 to a young lady in San Francisco who owned it until 1984. She then sold it to a gentleman in Eureka, Ca. who owned it until 2009. This particular man's love for the car can be seen from his very intricate records that he kept in a journal. Every gas mpg record is there, every oil change, change of wiper blades, you name it. That diary is worth its weight in gold when it comes to car like this. It has had three engine rebuilds over its life, and the original odometer reads 61,589. It has rolled twice and is a true 261,589. However, in its recent restoration, the engine was completely over-hauled, key suspension parts replaced, and any rust issues repaired. The driver side subfloor padding was missing, so new subfloor padding was added with original rubber mats. We have pictures of the restoration process in great detail. The paint quality is top notch and it is flawless! Options original to this car included chrome wheels, wooden steering wheel, and a 5-speed transmission. Added during the restoration were 3-point Porsche seatbelts, and 356 barrel headrests. The barrel headrests were an actual option in 1966, but only very few were outfitted with these. The original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio works, as well as everything else on the car. It does not have the original windshield, and the sun visors are not period correct. Owned by a local Porsche enthusiast, this 912 won 1st place in the 911/912-1965/1989 Class at a recent PCA sponsored Concour. Recognized as a "daily driver", this 912 cruises beautifully down the highway and rides smoothly due in part to its new Kuhmo tires.
