Vehicle Detail
Here is your chance to have a unique custom car at a fraction of the price of doing one from scratch. This 1995 Ford Probe GT was a father & son project for the kid’s 16th birthday. It was well cared for by previous owner but had paint blemishes. A full front, rear, and side body kit was added and the paint was stripped down to the bare metal. All this was professionally done at my brother’s custom body and paint shop. The car was repainted black with red flames added to the sides, hood, and roof using SUNSET color Metalflake. The design is NOT a decal!! 5 coats of urethane clear were put on and the entire car was wetsanded and buffed and then hand pinstriped in Process Blue One-Shot lettering enamel. Custom 18 inch chrome wheels and tires were added and the tires are like new. Car also has a custom exhaust. Of course my son had to have a butt-kicken stereo that includes a Panasonic CQ-C8100U Mosfet 50W X 4 CD receiver, 2 10in. Earthquake Subwoofers, 2 front & 2 rear Earthquake side speakers, 4 tweeters, 1000W Cyclone amp for subs, 250W amp for side speakers, and a crossover and capacitor. Also included is an alarm system. The total cost of the stereo and alarm system was approx. $1,500, the starting bid of this auction. The kid graduated from college and while this car has a special place in his heart, so does the BMW convertible he is now driving. The Probe has not been used in about 6 months and there is no reason for us to hang on to it. In the 8 or so years we owned it, it has been the most reliable car in our family and has seldom needed attention other than routine maintenance. The 5 speed transmission bypasses the problems that Ford had with their automatics. However there are some areas needing attention. While the custom paint designs are still in excellent condition, the fiberglass body kit needs some repair work. There are some cracks, nicks, etc that should be repaired and spotted in but this is only in the black area of the car. The car sits real low in the front so the bottom unseen part of the kit may scrape when going across anything resembling a speed bump. Hey, that’s part of building one of these cars! Also, the sunroof does not close all the way and needs to be looked at. The leather interior is not bad but the drivers seat has some cracks. The rest of the interior is ok but some of the air conditioning vents are missing a few slats and the electric window switch in the doors is loose. Mechanically, there is a slow leak that might be coming from the water pump and there may be some other things needing to be done but nothing that I can think of that would be a major repair. This car was well cared for and maintained including frequent oil changes. The Pennsylvania vehicle inspection is good until November this year. I need to get back in the car and take it for a spin this weekend to check it out. I am trying to describe the condition of this car to the best of my ability but will not be responsible for any errors or omissions. Please also take a good look at the pictures showing some of the problem areas mentioned. I think the pictures actually show a lot of detail that is hard to see outside, plus the car was dirty and that might exaggerate the defects. I have this car for sale locally so I need to reserve the right to end the auction early if given an offer I cannot refuse but this is something I am reluctant to do. Also, I am open to any interesting trades, keeping in mind that I am a hot rodder and not really into the newer kids cars, but then the wife is looking for another car so let me know. You can contact me at (610) 779-0279 Home or cell# (610) 413-1654. My hours and days vary considerable at work but I will try to respond as soon as possible if you do not reach me. Thank you!! Winning bidder must make a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of the close of the auction. Balance to be paid within 12 days and I request that the car be picked up as soon as possible. Car is located in the Eastern suburbs of Reading, Pa and you are welcome and encouraged to come to check out the car before bidding.
