Vehicle Detail
Of the 911 Speedsters manufactured by Porsche, this is the rarest of them all - 936 cars produced and only 427 of those delivered to the United States . Its collectability is unquestioned. The 1994 derivative was everything the 1989 Speedster should have been. Far fewer '94s were built: in 1989 Porsche manufactured 2,065 Speedsters, of which 823 were exported to the U.S. market. The 1994 Speedster has a larger engine (3.6 vs. 3.2 liter), more horsepower (247 vs. 217 bhp), higher compression (11:3:1), taller redline (6,700 RPM), larger wheels and tires (205/50 ZR17 and 255/40 ZR17), better brakes (ABS/vented discs), higher rear gear ratio (3:33:1), resulting in a higher top speed (162 mph) and even better gas mileage. The 1994 Speedster also had better track times (0-60 in 5.7 sec., 0-100 in 13.5 sec. and the quarter mile in 14.1 sec.) and handling (an incredible 0.90g). Finally, the '94s benefited from considerable changes over previous models, including a strengthened windshield frame, a more refined and sculpted fiberglass fairing behind the seats and much easier operation of the convertible top. This particular car was purchased from its original Beverly Hills, CA owner in August 2003. It has been in no accidents, suffered no harsh winters and has never been smoked in. Short scheduled drives to prevent seal leaks and flat spots on tires. Always garage stored carefully under cover and lovingly maintained, this is a very fine example of one of Porsche's most collectible 911s. Flaws: I believe in honest, full disclosure because I want potential buyers to bid with confidence having been given an accurate description of this car’s condition. A California earthquake caused an item to fall from the original owner's garage shelf and put a small ding behind the headlamp bezel on the driver's side. There is a very small parking lot ding in the door panel on the passenger side. There is an almost imperceptible paint irregularity below the gasoline filler hatch and small touched-up scratches on the hatch itself. The front dam spoiler was scuffed slightly on a curb. The power door lock on the driver's side has only just recently stopped working and the clock stopped a couple of years ago. The rear decklid and hood gas supports need to be replaced. I could easily repair these items but would want more for the car. Other than these observations, the car is in absolutely superb condition - both cosmetically and mechanically - befitting its 19,000 mile status. Following is the equipment list (both standard and optional): 3.6 liter, air-cooled, flat 6 cylinder engine Tiptronic automatic 4 speed transmission Limited-slip differential Power-assisted steering Air conditioning w/full climate control Cruise control Carrera 2 leather, fully-adjustable power seats Power windows Power locks Rigid fiberglass tonneu cover Fog lights Halogen headlights Speed-extended rear spoiler Heated windshield Tinted glass Instrumentation with full gauges Dual airbags 3-point seatbelts Leather-covered steering wheel AM/FM/CD/MP3/iPod/Sirius-ready satellite stereo (more details follow) Alpine SEC-8048 Mobile Security System Chrome Porsche rally wheels w/crest center caps (includes key-locking lug nuts) Pirelli high performance tires w/ ~80% tread life remaining (front: 205/50 ZR 17 N2, rear: 255/40 ZR 17 N2) Sound system: this car features a high-performance Kenwood Excelon KDC-X869 head unit w/Rockford-Fosgate Punch 250X2 amplifier. The small original speakers were replaced in favor of high performance co-axial speakers w/custom-built enclosures that are mounted on the door panels. Also, performance tweeter cones were placed inside the aft compartment on driver & passenger sides. The rear speaker configuration was also dramatically enhanced, featuring a custom-built & upholstered speaker cabinet to provide deep, rich sound. This cabinet (located behind the bucket seats) is surface-mounted for easy removal and was carefully designed to compliment - not modify - the car's interior. The original owner spent over $4,000 on the sound system and I spent another $700 myself. I will include the original Sony MDX-400 Mini-Disc changer & remote that was in the car when purchased. This automobile comes with owner's manual, original maintenance and warranty booklets, service records, full tool kit, optional air compressor and trickle charger. Certificate of authenticity is available from Porsche. Additionally, the custom automotive cover will be included. I will also throw in Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil and automotive care products (waxes, polishes, cleaners) acquired for use with this car. Payment and Shipping: Payment must be made by certified funds - cashier’s check (upon clearance) or bank wire transfer. Buyer will be responsible for shipping but multiple options exist and I will be happy to assist where possible.
