Vehicle Detail
ok, here it is for the second, and last time. in a nutshell, answers to questions from the first run on ebay: no, it's not orig. interior. yes, it is a daily driver, but it's a 45 yr. old car, and it's not perfect. no, it has no rust. i have additional photos to prove it. yes, the locar shifter was added, it was an orig. column shift. yes, it needs weatherstrip kit and a windshield wiper motor. both found cheaply here on ebay. yes, it was a power top, but the rams have been removed. yes, i can meet a buyer, within reason, should he live in CA, or surrounding states, for delivery of vehicle. it is going on a 3 day short sale. so, once again, a 1964 Skylark convertible, in excellent condition, and waiting to be restored. GM 350 crate motor now resides where the orig. Buick mill used to power this classic Skylark. a 3 speed, tranny, pos. a 350 turbo, (?) as i don't know how to differentiate, and the last owner did not know (any help from you folks on how to tell, would be great), with a Locar floor shifter, gets it down the road nicely. in daily driver condition, the motor is reputed by the previous owner to have approx. 10,000 miles or less on it. has an edelbrock alum. intake and carb, new battery, volt. reg., exhaust, from manifold back and newer distributor. car fires on the first turn, and runs beautifully. can be driven anywhere. power steering, drum brakes, power top (although the rams have been removed, and i raise and lower manually). no a/c. heater and defrost (needs repaired), orig. radio intact, but a nice cd head unit and 4, 6" speakers have been added, and sound great. odometer reads 40,998, which may or may not be the actual mileage. interior is in excellent condition, as is dash and components, save for the driver seat, which will need recovering. the back seat is flawless. carpet ok. the glass, windows, etc. are all perfect, and roll up and down w/o a hitch. the body is in 9 out of 10 condition. no dents, dings or even scratches on the faded blue paint, which may be original, as i don't know. the trim is all there and intact. the grill is perfect. the chrome bumpers are fair to good, no dents or creases, just cosmetic. the mirrors are perfect. the back panel is flawless. all lights, signals and lenes, are functioning, and i was told, are orig.; complete and uncracked. there are a few tiny bubbles behind the rear pass. side quarter panel (seen in photo 12), other than that, it's a clean 99.9% rust free California car. the black convt. top is a 9.5 out of 10. has one tiny tear on the inside (about the size of a quarter) where it caught on the mechanism which raises the top, but doesn't go through the top itself, just the roof liner. the trunk is nearly perfect. one run of a sander will remove the surface rust, which is very minimal. the rustiest thing in the trunk is the original bumper jack, which can be seen in the photo (will need a weatherstripping kit, found here on ebay). the original four Buick spinner hubcaps, shown in the photo of the trunk also, are included, as is the spare. nice american racing torquethrusts, which i just put on it, give it a sleeker look, in my opinion, but the 'caps look nice as well. overall, the car is a mechanically sound daily driver, but deserves to be made into a head turner, which with some tlc and a few bucks, can easily be realized. no panels, sheet metal, trim, bumpers, glass, knobs, locks, lenses etc. will be needed, and that, in itself, is half the battle. a really nice, clean CA car, and ready to be brought back to her former glory. if i had the time, and cash, i would love to bring her back, but i lost my job of 17 yrs., and bills are calling. i bought this car, after selling my 69 camaro project car, wanting something different, as i had chevy's all my life. these cars are every bit as nice as 64,65,66 chevelles, and are so undervalued, it's almost sad. feel free to ask any questions, or for additional photos. there is no reserve. winning bidder responsible for shipping of the vehicle to desired location, unless semi local, then it can be driven. full payment due within 10 days of auction end. type or method of payment can be arranged between myself and auction winner. $500 non refundable deposit due within 48 hrs. of auction end, and will be applied to final selling price. i have 100% feedback, and am a top rated power seller, so bid with confidence. all offers for a 'buy it now' option, with appropriate offer will be considered.
