Vehicle Detail
Up for auction are these two trans ams. This was going to be my restoration project but I just dont have the time and money to invest right now. Instead of letting the cars sit in my driveway I am selling them because I want to see them go to someone that will get the job done and get the car back on the road where it belongs. I was going to do a ground-up restoration of a "bandit" car. But this is the perfect start to restore a classic however you want. The first car is a 1978 Pontiac Tran Am. 400 cid, auto trans, t-tops. The car runs and drives but the engine needs some work. There are vacuum lines unhooked under the hood. I had to feather the gas a bit to keep it running, but after it warms up it idles strong and steady. The car drives but has a problem getting power to the wheels. Car savy people I have talked to about it are all confident the unhooked vacuum lines are to blame. I haven't had the time to look up how to hook them up correctly so I haven't messed with it. Trans fluid is full and clean. I was able to drive the car onto the trailer when I picked it up earlier this year. The engine doesn't hold coolant, but it doesn't look like a leak. When I ran water through it poured out under the engine, I think there must be a hose unhooked. Looks like the car leaks either oil or trans fluid, theres a medium sized puddle in the driveway. Both fluids still show full on the dipsticks. The interior is intact but it would need to be replaced. The floor boards are in bad shape and are basically junk. The frame is rusted and isnt very solid. The good is the 400 runs smooth with no knocks. With a tune up it will purr. The windshield is broken but all other glass is in good condition; including both tinted t-tops and the back window with defrosters. The shell car we think is an '80 or an '81 formula. The car is solid. Only very minor surface rust in a few places. Rockers are solid and rust free. Frame is in good shape. The biggest problem I can see with the shell car is that both sides of the toe boards near the fire wall are rusted through and would have to be replaced. This is a cheap and easy fix. This car also has t-tops and looks like it was set up from the factory with power locks and windows. My plan was to part out the red car and build the white car from the ground up. Its just too much work and time for my life right now. The red car came from New York from a gentleman that owned it since at least 1988. By the emissions stickers on the windshield it looks like the car was last on the road in 2002. It came to Michigan about a year and half ago to the gentleman I bought the car from earlier this year. He had the car stored during the time he owned it and didn't get any work towards restoring it done. I have a clean Michigan title on the red car. White car has no title. Odometer on the red car shows 67810. Email for more pictures and any questions. I will do my best to answer correctly, and I do promise to answer them honestly. Both cars are stored at my house in Chesterfield Twp., MI and I wouldn't mind setting up a time for you to look at the cars before you bid if you wish. Buyer will be responsible for picking up both cars. They will both need to be towed. $250 non-refundable deposit will be due via moneyorder or certified check within five days after end of auction. Cash only for the rest of the balance will be due upon pickup. I would like to get this done quickly. Lets say pickup within fourteen days of end of auction. Email any questions to Bob at nodius86@yahoo.com, thanks for looking. The leak is under the driver's door and leaks at a fast drip when the car is running. No leaks when the fuel pump is not activated. Sorry for this oversight.
