Vehicle Detail
1987 Vanagon Syncro Westfalia Full Camper History: This Syncro spent most of its life in Illinois. It was purchased from the prior owner in Wisconsin and driven for a few years and was parked due to leaking power steering lines. The mileage is not accurate ,due to the fact, it appears to have received a new GERMAN engine in the late 1990's. I assume the mileage was reset at that time. Carfax shows mileage in 1995 to be 134,000 and, then in 2001, it was 60,000. The transmission was replaced with a nonlocker at some point, but all the locker mechanisms are still in the van. I do not know if the sink, stove or refridgerator work, but it is all there. Someone completed some not so great bodywork on the van in the past. It is not perfect by any means but passes the 20 foot test. The van runs and drives good and the front VC is not too aggressive. The AC appears to be working. The van will need some work going forward and I noted those items below under the heading "The Bad". The Good: New power steering lines from front to back New metal brake lines and rubber hoses from front to back Rebuilt calipers and new wheel cylinders New wiper blades Fabricated and installed left fuel tank support Repacked rear CV's Repaired poptop tent The Bad: Skylight cracked Needs luggage rack seal All fuel hoses should be replaced Fuel sender not working, but odometer/speedometer does work Needs passenger side fuel tank support Rear heater fan works, but someone disconnected the hoses (it probably leaks) Front heater blower not working Will need tires soon Sliding door panel missing
