1980 AMC Spirit GT Relisted. Included with the car: your choice of replacement engine (6 or 4 cylinder). Black exterior/black interior 258 6 cylinder. The engine has a bad main seal leak. Automatic transmission (904) with floor shift. Shifted well when last driven. Transmission fluid is red with no signs of varnishing. The GT version of the Spirit has tuned suspension. The previous owner partly rebuilt the suspension. The car has new leaf springs and 4 new shocks. In the photos the new leaf makes it look jacked up but it is not. Has front and rear sway bars. The sway bar link bolts have been replaced. It is the nicest handling AMC I have ever owned. Both doors have been rehung with new hinge pins. Doors close smoothly. Included is your choice of a replacement engine: -AMC 6 cylinder -AMC\GM 4 Cylinder "Iron Duke" engine with mating manual 4sp transmission. These engines are used but are in good shape. The 4sp (SR4) shifted smooth. The car will need to be towed. For restoration or parts. Windshield is cracked. No headliner. The original sun visors, radio knobs, exhaust air pump (eliminated from the engine and would run without it), the rear speaker cover are missing. The both Spirit emblems are included with the car but are not installed. One GT emblem is missing. The front seats have an after market seat cover because the original seat covers are cracked at the seams. Front seats are comfortable and adjust back and forth. Rear seat is in good shape but needs cleaning. Dent by driver headlight at top corner of fender. Paint and interior have sun fading. The running board on the driver’s side has rusted through but visually this does not show unless you are underneath the car. The passager running board is rusted but is in much better condition. There is some rust. The wheels roll easily indicating good wheel bearings and the brakes are not frozen. Can be pushed easily by hand. The main frame and front shock tower look good. It has the sport odometer and rpm gauge, extra large radiator, power steering, sport steering wheel, and one rally rim. Have clear title. I will be happy to email pictures or answer questions. The 4sp trans is a SR-4.On Jul-05-10 at 09:21:42 PDT, seller added the following information: The original engine rotates freely by hand and maybe worth replacing the main seal gasket and running. None the less the highest bidder still has the choice of an AMC 6 cylinder or the AMC \ GM 4 cylinder "Iron duke" with mating 4sp. Located in Central Wisconsin. The car starts easily and idles smoothly with medium lifter noise. The original in dash RPM gauge does indicate a RPM that is close to acurate. I did not verify with another gauge.
