Vehicle Detail

Hi there, up for sale is my most prized car ive ever had. I am having to get rid of it due to finical hardship so my loss is your gain. Below you will find specs on it and pictures, the car is in mid restoration, the car was my friends and when he passed he gave me the rare car. It has been sitting outside for the past 3 years tarped up, to my understanding it runs, I havent made a attempt to try to start it because I havent had time. It only has 1 crack in the fiberglass and its located on the hood, very easy to patch.. I am starting the listing out at 5000 which is relatively low, NO RESERVE!!! If you wish to buy it now then offer me, (when it gets down to the last couple minutes you will not want to lose this car) 1972 Lotus Europa Twin Cam SpecialOnly 49550 Miles (lowest one you will find ever!)It may be the JPS edition, the paint on it before was black and for you car enthusiasts out there I do not even have to explain how rare JPS is..Has everything there besides the seats and a few minor chrome accents. There were less than 9200 Europa's made between the years 71 to 75 and there were even fewer that were made into the twin cam special, and there were only a handful that were JPS. In 1972 Lotus replaced the Renault engine with the more powerful Lotus-Ford four cylinder engine and the Lotus Europa Twin Cam was born. The exterior was slightly modified as well. The added power made the Twin Cam even more fun to drive than the Renault engined Europa it replaced.Fiberglass bodyPerformance ExhaustStromberg Carburetorsv4 Very Very Fast Model specs1971-1975 LOTUS Europa General specificationsCountry of originGreat BritainNumbers built Twin Cam built9230 (all models) 1720Produced from 1971 - 1975 EngineConfigurationFord-Lotus Straight 4LocationMid, longitudinally mountedDisplacement1.558 liter / 95.1 cu inBore / Stroke82.6 mm (3.3 in) / 72.8 mm (2.9 in)Valvetrain2 valves / cylinder, DOHCFuel feed2 Dell'Orto 40 DHLA CarburettorsAspirationNaturally Aspirated DrivetrainChassis/bodyfibreglass body on steel backbone type chassisFront suspensionwishbones, coil springs over shock absorbersRear suspensionradius arms, transverse links, coil springs over shock absorberSteeringrack-and-pinionBrakesdiscs front, drums rearGearboxRenault 4 speed ManualDriveRear wheel drive DimensionsWeight712 kilo / 1569.7 lbsLength / Width / Height3990 mm (157.1 in) / 1651 mm (65 in) / 1090 mm (42.9 in)Wheelbase / Track (fr/r)2310 mm (90.9 in) / N/A / N/A Performance figuresPower126 bhp / 78 KW @ 6500 rpmTorque153 Nm / 113 ft lbs @ 5500 rpmBHP/Liter67 bhp / literPower to weight0.15 bhp / kgTop Speed177 km/h / 130 mph0-60 mph8.2 s OverviewAccusations that the Europa was underpowered were dealt with by the simple expedient of fitting the Lotus twin-cam unit, initially in 105bhp form, but with 126bhp in the Special a year later in 1972. Most of these celebrated Lotus’ Grand Prix success by being painted John Player Special colours. Both of these Europas still used the Renault 16 gearbox (with an improved gear linkage), though the Specials could also be had with a five-speed version from the 17TS. Visually, these twin-cam models differed from the S1/S2 by having cut-down rear ‘buttresses’ to improve visibility. To honor Team Lotus's 1972 and 1973 F1 World Championships, a few black with gold pin stripe and numbered badge Europa Specials were offered as the first ever "John Player Special" commemorative motor vehicles. Winner must pay for the car within 7 days or must contact me within 3 days to arrange a payment program. I can ship the car out within 500 miles of Wildomar CA. I will only charge for gas and hoteling. If you live any farther away then you must arrange for shipping and I will help assist the movers. If you have any questions feel free to contact me, this is a rare car so I understand there will be lots and lots of questions so ill be sure to post all questions up. Thanks for your time viewing this auction and have a great day.On Jul-05-10 at 20:02:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi there, since I have listed it I have had several people email me saying that it either is or isnt a JPS each person has had different information so it either is or it isnt. Its as simple as that, just buy at your own discretion.. Once again good luck bidding and we are at over 250 people watching this car. Thanks for everyones interest and have a great day!On Jul-05-10 at 20:04:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Just to say one more thing, the car shines up nicely, its been tarped up for 3 years and is dirty. I have a broken foot at the moment so I cannot even wash it. Thank you once again! On Jul-06-10 at 08:24:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Another Update Everyone. As far as the title for it, it has been lost, and it was last registered in 1982 I believe. Meaning its clear for dmv fees and its ready to be put back in the database, winner will get a Bill of Sale from me and if wanted can recieve a Bill of Sale from the person my friend bought it from. Thank you to all who have been asking questions and giving additional information on this wonderful car!On Jul-08-10 at 20:18:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Another update ladies and gents, I have had so many emails from people telling me what this car is and isnt and each person has a seperate theory... So alas I am stating to whomever buys this car "WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET, WHETHER OR NOT ITS JPS, WHETHER OR NOT ITS NOT BLACK, WHETHER OR NOT ITS EVEN A TWIN CAM!!!" I am stating this because I have gotten over 25 emails from people either saying that this isnt a JPS or a Twin Cam or it is a JPS and its a big bore, I dont know anything about this car because my friend's wife gave it to me when he passed. So once again what you see is what you get, I am 100% certain that it is a Twin Cam and that it was running when my friend had it... ALSO THE REASON WHY I AM SELLING IT SO LOW IS BECAUSE I DONT KNOW JACK ABOUT THIS CAR AS WELL AS THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES WHICH IS SO RARE FOR MID ENGINE RACING CARS!! If you have any more questions or comments feel free to contact me, I am trying to help out anyone who is asking questions about this car and I am also willing to learn more about it if you can provide legitimate information!! Thank you for your interest and good luck on bidding.
