Vehicle Detail
1983 C30 Chevy car hauler. 350 engine. The flat part of the bed is 10' long, overall length is 18'. I bought this truck a few years ago from a local farmer. He had a car lot at one time and used the truck in that business. I will do my best to describe it. It has a 4speed(3speed with low) and a pto system that you have to engage to raise the bed. Supposedly the stinger works as well but you have to get under the truck to activate it and i've never tried it. It's not the smoothest operation when the bed raises, it's kinda slow. However i've raised it many times and it has always worked. The bed itself does have rust on the toolbox compartments and various other areas and does have pull out ramps. However the actual floor seems to be sturdy.....i've hauled a couple tractors and a car with no problem. It does have the axle winches for front and rear to hold the car on the bed. It also has a Werner M8000 winch that is in great shape and works very well. The winch is over $500 brand new. This truck uses a 3 battery system wired in series, I put 3 new batteries on it last summer. The engine will start right up if used on a routine basis however is easier to start by priming the carb if it's been sitting. After doing so it starts right up and stays running. The engine does smoke some time to time. It still seems to have plenty of power as it didn't have much problem breaking the rear wheels loose when I was pulling something. I put on a new distributor cap, plugs and wires. This past week I loaded a combine head on it for a neighbor and drove it 45 miles to an auction without any issues. The exhaust seems to be in good shape. It has 2 fuel tanks but only the one on the drivers side is in use. The clutch seems to be strong, shifts well and brakes work good. Interior isn't too bad, I really don't know the actual mileage of the truck. Tires on front are 80%, dualies on passenger side are 75%, dualies on drivers side 50%. Includes one good spare. There is some rust on the cab, mostly towards the bottom of the door panels. Nothing major league. It's been painted over to keep it from getting worse. Overall I would classify this truck as good to go for occasional use. Anything else and I would just say it's an older truck and has been around the block a few times. I'm mentioning that because I don't want anyone buying that thinks there going to haul cars hundreds of miles on a routine basis everyday and not expect to not have to make some repairs. Just like any other older truck. Then again I have another 83 chevy truck in the same condition that I use 2-3x week for years without problems. I guess what im trying to say is that I wouldn't classify this truck as a commercial operation and more for personal use. If your just gonna haul your race car on the weekends or a trip to the junk yard here and there this is the perfect truck for that. I will accept cash only, no paypal, checks etc. and not interested in trading for anything I have too much stuff as it is lol. This is an "as is" auction with no warranty or guarantee of any kind. Anyone that wants to view the truck beforehand is welcome to make arrangements with me. Serious bidders only please, im not one for winning bidders wanting to inspect the item "after" the sale and then changing their mind. I have described this truck to the best of my knowledge and will try to answer any questions the best I can. Thanks for looking and have a nice day.
