Vehicle Detail
Second owner is selling a garaged 1997 BMW F650 GS with certificate of destruction after MVA. This bike can be used for parting out, off-road use, or potentially export to S. America but not Europe. The bike suffered cosmetic and front fork damages detailed in the BMW repair estimate. Since the replacement costs of these parts were so high, under Florida law, the bike must be given a certificate of destruction. Currently, the only riding problem is the front wheel alignment is off. The BMW service guy informs me that it can be corrected without replaicement of fork but requires disassemby of the fork. The insurance company offered me $600 for the bike but I wasn't prepared to part with it at the time. I bought the bike in 1999 in Colorado with about 4,000 miles from a dealer. From 4,000-12,000, I recreationally used the bike for touring and trail riding in Colorado. The last 8,682 miles were consumed as a commuter in Florida. The bike was in a prior accident with only minor damage which was repaired. (Service records are available.) I took off the luggage rack for appearance reasons. There are scratches to the right side of fairing and side panels from laying it down. The right rear passenger foot peg broke. The right turn signal is glued on. The tool kit is missing. But otherwise can't think of any other significant problems. I have had no mechanical problems with this bike. I purchased Metzler tires about 7,000 miles ago and they show only minimal wear. The bike was tuned by BMW dealer a few months before accident. The bike currently runs great. Buyer will have to incur the cost of shipping, however, I am willing to do whatever I can on my end to facillitate the process.
