1979 Pontiac Trans Am Y84 SE 400 4 Speed No Reserve Up for auction is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am SE 400 4 speed car. This is a true, documented Y84 car. One of 1107 built in 1979. The SE optioned cars are the rarest and most desirable of the 2nd generation F bodies. This is a 4 owner car fresh out of long term storage. The odometer shows approximately 56000 miles. This is a very complete car that NEEDS COMPLETE RESTORATION. If that doesn't scare you or if thats what you like, then read on. This is the car everyone wants. Exterior: The paint appears to be original on most car. The car will need floor pans, doors and lower rear quarters. The rear cross brace is shot. Thats the bad news, the good is the fenders, hood, inner wheelhouses, core support, nose, bumper, foof and rockers are all rock solid. This car rusted from sitting, not from driving. Glass: All glass appears to be original and is in good condition Lights and lenses: All lights and lenses are in good condition. When you apply the brakes, the parking lights come on. The car has original T Tops and the channels and weatherstrip are in good condition. Interior: The interior is tan hobnail. Overall the interior is in decent condition. The car needs seat skins, carpet, headliner, and rear inner panels. Door panels a ok, could be restored. . The dash and console are very good with no cracking. Original radio is missing. Being a Y84 car, the dash has the unique gold finished dash panel, the gold is faded. The car has a Hurst shifter. Drive train: The drive train is mostly complete The motor is a Pontiac 400 WC block with 6X heads and original manifolds. I cannot find the VIN, the pad is clean. Aftermarket carburator. The A/C compressor is missing. The shaker is NOT cutout. There is no exhaust to speak of. The throttle cable is missing, so the previous owner ran some speaker wire through the side window; no, I am not kidding. Call it vintage Drive by wire, are you paying attention Toyota? 4 Speed transmission, clutch is just about shot. Rear end appears to be original. Brake pedal goes to the floor. Wheels and Tires Wheels are original WS6 8” wheels in good condition. They would need to be re-cleared to be perfect. No pitting or curb rash. Lug nuts are correct.
