Vehicle Detail

1957 Cadillac Series-62 325 H.P. 365 V8 (believed to be original) Automatic Trans. (also believed to be original) 4-Door Power Steering and Power Brakes Power Antenna Manual Windows No A/C This Cadillac is complete, and is said to be all original, and certainly looks that way. The car will need a good restoration to be perfect, but is a goldmine of potential. This car was received on a trade from a guy in the U.P. of Michigan. I trailered the car home in March of 2009 and had lots of plans for it. Unfortunately, as things go I was unable to put my plans into action, and the car has been sitting in my garage since. The person I obtained the car from had said that the car was driven as recently as 2006. He said that the motor had run when he got it from a friend of his who had driven the car. He had the car for 3 years in his garage, until 2009 when I obtained it. Currently, and as was the case in March of '09, the engine turns over freely, but will not start. We did not spend very much time trying to get the car running again, as I had planned a full restoration which would have involved stripping the engine anyway. The automatic transmission was also said to have been in good operating condition as of 2006, however I have been unable to test this due to the engine. It is my belief that with a little work, the car could move under it's own power again. We were able to get the engine to sputter on starting fluid, but that's where we left off. We did find evidence of a possible mouse nest in the intake, upon removing the carburator, so it would be best to tear down the engine and do a full reseal or rebuild. The engine is complete and all parts including the air cleaner housing are here. We removed them as we investigated the engine, and we took pictures of the engine without these items installed to show what it's true condition looks like. It is clean for the year and free of sludge buildup, etc. It is believed that the car has it's original 365V8 engine and automatic transmission. Axles are original, interior is all complete and original. All glass is good on the car. All 4 original hubcaps are also included, the tires hold air and will be suitable for rolling the car around on, but will need new tires when it's time to drive. The body of this car is it's biggest selling point. I don't think you will find a better base for your next restoration project than this. The car is extremely solid for the year. The underbody is solid (this is a uni-body car). The hood, fenders, doors, trunk, etc are all extremely solid, just look at the pics. The exhaust system is also complete. The interior of the car is in good shape for the age and being original, but will need a good restoration for a show. With a battery hooked up, you can turn the motor with the ignition, all of the guage lights work, etc. Even the horn. The car rolls freely and we were able to get the brakes working (they had to be bled), so this will not be difficult to load onto a trailer. Included in this sale: 1.) Brand New GM Factory issued Cadillac Shop Manual for 1957. This book was published by GM, and is an exact replica of the 1957 Cadillac Shop Manual which would have been used by dealership technicians in 1957. For verification, the part number for this book is: 1098682-20m-10-56. This book is a complete manual for the car, listing all systems in extreme detail. This book weighs just over 2 lbs. 2.) Original to this car 1957 Cadillac Bumper Jack and all 4 original hubcaps (not shown). We have a clean and clear title for the car, and it's more than ready to be brought back to it's original glory. I just don't have the interest in the car that it deserves. Unfortunately, delivery is not available as I no longer have a suitable trailer for hauling this car. This car will need to be picked up and trailered home at the buyers expense. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or requests for more pictures. I will respond right away and can get new pictures within 24 hours of the request. TERMS OF SALE ------------------- This car is being sold AS-IS, no warranties expressed or implied. The buyer understands that the car will need to be trailered home, and is not driveable in it's present condition. The car must be picked up at it's current location in Grand Rapids, MI. Shipping is not offered, so all transport must be arranged by the purchaser and communicated to the seller. Payment in full is due within 2 weeks of auction end, unless agreed upon arrangements have been made between seller and purchaser. I want to highlight a few things as well: 1.) The last picture of the car, the close-up of the section of rust, is a picture of the worst spot on the whole body of the car, as you can see it is not bad at all, I just want everyone to be able to see it in the best detail possible. This section is located on the bottom of the pass. side front fender, near the seam to the pass. door. 2.) The headliner in the interior is ripped and hanging in places, though this probably doesn't matter as the interior would be reupholstered in restoration anyway. 3.) I wanted to point out that there is a rust hole in the trunk pan, and I will have a picture of this up along with the engine and other misc. underbody pics ASAP. There is a large dip molded into the trunk pan where it looks as if maybe a spare tire would be stored? This dip was molded from the factory and of course provided a perfect spot for water to settle. As with anything this age, this has resulted in a rust hole in that area. 4.) Most of the chrome trim on the car is salvageable, I would say at least 80% of it is. Some of it, such as the rear bumper near the exhaust outlets, does have some pitting and weak spots. I will also get better detailed pictures of this as well. Again, I cannot stress enough how solid of a restoration project this car is, and any classic car fan should clearly see the potential in this car. I am happy to see the interest level so high and I look forward to this car going to someone who can give it the attention it deserves. This car will be beautiful when restored, and unlike all the 60's and 70's camaro's and mustangs, this car is NOT something you will see in every car show and parade.
