FOR SALE BY OWNER 2002 MERCEDES E55 AMG with only 36,789 adult driven miles. Notable features: Heated and AIR CONDITIONED front seats, COMMAND Navigation System with Disc Set (except Disc #9), Touch-Tronic 5-Speed Auto Transmission for manual shifting (very fun!), Privacy Screen inside back window, Bose Sound System, Charcoal Leather Interior, Air-Controlled Lumbar Support, Headlight Washers, Auto-Sensing Intermittent Wiper, Motorized Steering Wheel adjuster, memory seats, light-sensing (auto adjusts for day & night!) rearview & sideview mirrors and much more. Excellent (recent) Michelin Pilot Sport (summer) original equipment tires have about 7-8 tenths tread remaining. CONDITION: Exterior is about 9-9.5 out of 10 (only a few wheel curb scrapes-typical for this vehicle) and is garage kept. It has protective plastic at the front of the hood and on the tops of each side mirror (great bug & pebble protection!). The leather interior is virtually immaculate. Never driven in snow, this was a Texas car until I bought it last year. REASON FOR SELLING: Health issues, expenses. MAINTENANCE: All maintenances done as per Mercedes recommendations. Recent Air Conditioning service and recharge at Germain Mercedes (they were very complimentary to the car's condition!). All oils are full-synthetic as per Mercedes specifications and runs only on 92 or higher octane premium unleaded gasoline. It is VERY important to maintain clean air filters-dirty ones will eventually cause the pricey mass air flow sensor to fail. *This was probably the reason you see an emissions issue on the Vehicle History Report. In Texas, any emissions failure, regardless of how insignificant, is considered to be a 'failed inspection' as well. RELIABILITY: This car is often called 'Bulletproof' and the build quality is far above the average E Class. The drive train is hand-assembled by one elite mechanic. The leather is a much higher grade than standard MB leather. I had an extended warranty on my first E55, but I really don't think it is necessary for this dependable car! DRIVEABILITY: This elegant, sophisticated Mercedes Benz can become a fire-breathing 346 horsepower dragon if driven like Mr. Hyde. However, (this is my second silver 2002 E55) this car, intended for the intelligent driver, still runs and drives like new because it has never been raced or abused. The transmission, which has 'winter' (2nd gear start) and 'summer' (1st gear start) settings, is set by the factory to 'act up' if the driver unsafely 'punches' the gas pedal. Another great safety feature is the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) which prevents the car from spinning out of control when accelerating. Surprisingly, this car got over 26 mpg (shown on trip computer) from my trip from Dallas to Central Ohio with the air conditioner running. The performance, road feel and response is simply amazing. The superb build quality will extend the life of this fine car for years to come. The reserve is set below the Kelly Blue Book value.
