1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SEb European-Model 2 Door Coupe This luxurious model was the last of the hand-built Mercedes. Only 13 cars per week rolled off the production line. Unlike other automobiles, these cars were classics the day they rolled off the production line, and have remained so ever since. The 220SEb was first introduced in 1961 and was considered to be an immediate success. Road & Track magazine said "one of the best-looking body designs to come from any German concern." It is exquisitely proportioned and beautifully designed. Luxurious may very well be an understatement when describing this model!!!! Up for auction is European Model 1965 Mercedes Benz 220SEb Coupe, 4-Speed manual (VIN# 111.021.10-071839). 1965 is the last production year of 220SEb Coupes, making this particular Mercedes even more rare and special. Another very rare option that this car comes with is manually operated sunroof! Only 14,173 220SEb Coupe’s were made in the period of 1961-1965! In its final production stage (1965) the 220SEb had many developmental improvements from the beginning. The mechanical fuel injection, disc brakes and other improvements, made it the most sophisticated car on the road. This car is an original and unmolested example of the timeless German luxury automobile! It was never fully restored, but its very nicely kept daily driver. Paint has beautiful shine and luster, and it’s in very nice condition. Doors open and shut nicely and tightly, and body is nice, solid and straight. Chrome is all compete, with healthy shine and luster. Combined with its original Cognac Brown Leather Interior, this car looks very elegant, and with its beautiful appearance anywhere in town, it is a real traffic stopper. Structurally this Mercedes is in very good condition, and its body is straight and solid (please see pictures). There are some signs of rust repairs on the floor boards and spare tire well, usual suspects on these cars. Original Cognac Brown Interior is in great condition, especially considering its age. Leather seats are nice and comfortable, showing their aged patina. All windows roll up and down with ease, including the manually operated sunroof, rare and very desirable option on these coupes! Also, as this is European Model Coupe, all instruments are in Metric units (KM/h, Celsius, etc) Mechanically Fuel Injected, straight 6 cylinder engine starts up easily, and it is strong and powerful as ever. Desirable Manual 4-Speed Transmission shifts with ease through all the gears, and this nice German Coupe is a lot of fun to drive! It also comes with period correct 13 inch wheels!
