THE RESERVE IS $901 because ebay required a reserve higher than the mimimum bid amount. I must have done something wrong when I set up the auction. My mistake. I have had this car since college. I bought it new in the spring of 1992. It was in my dad's name for a few years before I "bought" it from him. I took it on a few long drives to and from school, but after graduation it was a city car for more than 10 years and was driven only on the weekends. Its now a 2nd car I use to drive to the train and short drives on the weekends. This is why the mileage is so low. Recently when getting a trade in quote from Carmax, I was shocked to find out that the car was considered to have possibly had the odometer rolled back. Amazing since I have always owned the car and even if I wanted to do this I would have no idea how. Upon further investigation it turns out that when I brought the car in for its required emissions test in 2002 some state employee wrote "142,000" for the mileage instead of 42,000. Now I have a car that, according to the State of Illinois, possibly had its odometer rolled back. Thanks, State of Illinois. The car has some rust. There is one really bad spot right above the right rear tire (see picture). Otherwise, the spots are small. The car runs great. I changed the oil every 3 months religiously. The only real issue I have had over the years is that batteries, for some reason, don't last long in this car. Usually only 3 years. There must be something draining the battery but every time I get it checked they tell me there is nothing they can find. There is also some noise coming from the wheels or steering column on routine turns. Without looking at it, a mechanic told me he thought there was some corrosion in the steering column. Other than that, the only other problem I am aware of is the antenna does not go all the way down when the car is turned off so there is a noise for a few seconds when the car is turned off while the antenna is trying to go all the way down, but can't. The radio works fine though. A major repair was done in 2003 to the breaks and exhaust. The exhaust repairs receipt says "Resonator Assembly" and "Quiet-Flow Muffler." The break repairs say "Break Booster," "Break Master CYL-New" and "Raymold Wheel CYL." I don't know what this means but the total cost for all of this was $1,424.17. The buyer can have a copy of the receipt, which by the way, shows mileage on October 20, 2003 as 48,784. Just last month (May 2010) I replaced the alternator ($357). Feel free to call me at my daytime phone number (312-460-8870) if you have any questions or if you would like to know any additional information. This car is sold AS IS WHERE IS and with all faults. All warranties are disclaimed. The car must be picked up from Wilmette, Illinois (Lake Avenue near US-94 Edens Expressway). Seller will not ship.
