Thanks for coming to check out this auction! I have an excellent reputation & positive feedback rating on eBay, so you can bid with confidence on my items. Please be sure to read the entire description and view all of the super-sized photos of the vehicle before placing your bids. Thank you. This is a NO RESERVE auction!!! Shown here is a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie with the 292 V8 & 4-barrel carburetor, 3-speed manual transmission (on the column). The car runs and drives reliably. We recently took it on a road trip, and used the car for a friend's wedding getaway car last weekend! It was a blast. It has a somewhat rare combination of options in that it came from the factory with no radio or full wheel covers, and no power options, yet it's got the V8 engine with 4 barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. I've not seen many V8 powered cars with a 3-on-the-tree manual transmission. It says 98,450 on the odometer, and those miles are believed to be the actual, original mileage. The clutch pressure plate is a little warped, so the car has some chatter when starting off from a dead stop, but it shifts smoothly, with no clutch slippage or anything like that. The brakes work, but pull to the right when you step on the pedal. It's pretty typical for '50s 4-wheel drum brakes to do this, but it needed to be mentioned as they could use some work. Also, the engine looks great, and isn't all greasy (still has nice paint on it). It burns some oil (driving behind the car, I notice a little puff of blue smoke when the gas is let off to shift gears). This is indicitave of the umbrella seals on the valve stems leaking oil past them, since it happens on decelleration. It's not just some tired, old, worn out engine, as it seems to have good compression (it has great power, & surprisingly good accelleration!). It fires right up, and doesn't hesitate or stall out whatsoever (the carburetor is new). The paint is probably 10 years old, and still glossy and presentable for the most part, but there were some areas near the beltline trim which were flaking off, so they've been touched up with some white spray paint. It looks fine like this, but naturally isn't a perfect show car by any means. There is some body filler in the lower fenders that has chipped out, but I don't see bubbling or cracking elsewhere. The frame and floors seem really solid. There are some screws driven through some of the stainless trim unfortunately to hold it on, and it's not perfect either. The glass is good. Tires are radials, & have about 60% tread remaining. Front bumper has a dent on one side (as you can see in the pictures). The front two door-latches are a little sticky, and you have to slam the door to get them to latch. Perhaps they need some lubrication, but I have not done anything about it yet. The lights and turn signals work (though I think the right one doesn't flash, so you have to click it manually). All the gauges are working, and the heater & fan work. Horn works, wipers work. Windows roll up and down smoothly, and wing-vents open & close nicely. The carpet is nice, and all the interior trim is original and very presentable! The seats and door panels are in amazingly good condition considering they're all original & over 50 years old. The headliner isn't terrible, but has some small patched holes, so the car will come with a brand new headliner still in-box in the trunk. This car is a nice example of an older restoration that's certainly nice enough to be used as a daily driver just as it is, or to take in parades or to local car shows. I'd say you could hop in it, and drive it anywhere in the country on a moment's notice. Fly out and drive her home if you like! You won't need a radio... The V8 engine with dual exhaust makes beautiful music all of its own! Everywhere you go with this car, people smile. It really turns heads! Ford Motor Company actually won an award for their design of this car in 1959... and for good reason. The Old Cars Price Guide states that in #3 condition, this car is worth $5,550.00. I've listed it at a VERY fair price (far below book value), with no reserve! Don't miss out on this great deal on a very cool classic Ford! If you'd like to come check it out, or have it inspected, you may call my partner (mechanic & bodyman), Jason at (641) 512-5229. He can answer any further questions that you may have about the car. Thanks for lookin'! ...and now for the fine print... By bidding on this item (or otherwise agreeing to purchase the vehicle), you acknowledge that it is being sold AS IS with no warranty implied or expressed, and that we require a $250.00 security deposit via PayPal or money order sent to myself: Ron Wunderlich, 15791 Nettle Ave., Mason City, IA 50401 within 5 days of auction’s end, and the remaining balance of the vehicle is to be paid for in full within 10 days. If coming to pick it up in person, then we ask that you bring cash for the remainder of payment, otherwise if having the vehicle shipped, a Wells Fargo or Bank of America cashier’s check is acceptable. If you can’t get the vehicle picked up right away, storage for a reasonable amount of time may be an option, but please ask before you bid, and remember that the vehicle must be paid for in full within 10 days of auction’s end whether it has been picked up yet or not. I request Wells Fargo or Bank of America because they are National Chains and I can go right down to our local branch here in Mason City and cash the note right away without having to wait for a 10 day hold from another bank. This way, I can just send the title right out to you, and there’s no waiting for the funds to clear. This helps with those having a vehicle transported as well, because I cannot release a vehicle to an auto shipper if the payment is not cleared. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. Anyone failing to pay for an item won at auction will appropriately have a N0N-PAY1NG-B1DDER-STR1KE left. Security deposits are considered non-refundable. If you intend to have this vehicle shipped with a car carrier, the auto transporters I have contact info for are as follows: Atlas Auto Transport (888)285-2706, David Irving 763-441-3796, Larry Baker 605-484-6949 There’s also one called D.A.S. (Dependable Auto Shippers) with a shipping dock out of Altoona, Iowa (about 2&½ hours from us here in Mason City) 800 826-1083.
