2000 BMW R1200C with extras - SIMPLY IRRESISTABLE! The R1200C models of BMWs are unquestionably among the coolest motorcycles ever made! And the German engineering and build quality that has gone into all their motorcycles since 1923 make them the best on the market! Unfortunately, these "Chromeheads" are no longer in production; only pre-owned ones remain. Oh well - the end of an era! This bike is in excellent condition, having always been garage-kept and well-maintained. It does have a few noteworthy but minor flaws: the rear spoke-wheel is known for light pitting of the chrome over the years, but there's no rust (notice how the spokes lace up outside of the tire bead to enable the use of tubeless tires. A very thoughtful BMW design feature!). The right rear turn signal has some finish damage; the right engine guard guarded the engine once and sustained some scratches, as well as scuff-damage to the plastic mirror housings. Also, there's a small, shallow ding on the left side of the tank - hardly noticeable unless you're looking for it. Hey - not bad at all for a 10-year-old. How many ten-year-olds have you known who haven't had some scrapes & bruises? Among the many features of this bike: Amazingly smooth 1200cc DOHC boxer-twin engine with 5-speed tranny and shaft drive. This engine came standard with Bosch Platinum Plus-2 spark plugs for peak performance over their long life Air-and-oil cooling of engine (twin thermostatically-controlled oil coolers ahead of gas tank) Bosch Anti-Lock brakes front and rear. No pulsating at all - just a smooth, controlled stop every time! By the way, those are 4-piston Brembo calipers up front - incredible stopping! Bosch electronic engine management system - fuel injection, ignition, etc. Stock exhaust, engineered as a complete system along with the engine & drive train, give the best performance, highest efficiency, cleanest air (not to mention rear wheel!), and lets you know positively that this is a by-God Big Twin (but won't annoy the neighbors)! Twin leather-covered plastic hard bags - detachable & lockable with ignition key The incredible BMW exclusive Telelever front/Paralever rear suspension system Adjustable brake lever & pedal and clutch lever On-board tool kit behind left side-cover Chrome engine guards with pads for feet-up, relaxed cruising (don't you dare fall asleep!) Almost-brand-new front tire and very good rear rubber BMW polycarbonate (Lexan) windshield (the smaller one of the two pictured goes with the bike) Twin PIAA halogen "eyeball" lights with amber lenses and aluminum "eyebrows" for superior visibility and safety - lighted push-button on/off switch on instrument panel Twin 6-LED orange running lights mounted to front turn signal stalks Twin acrylic wind deflectors mounted on fork tubes (Lotta twins here!) Removeable acrylic "slop stop" behind front wheel keeps engine case free of road tar & grime Clear acrylic headlight protector prevents glass breakage - acrylic "eyebrow" prevents glare in windshield, puts more light on the road. Both are attached with velcro Brilliant 18-LED red light strip on chrome license plate frame - extra-bright taillight and brake light Red 2357 bulb behind clear taillight lens for cool look and bright light New top-of-the-line Odyssey gel battery this spring (expensive!) New K&N air filter installed same time as battery - you'll never need another air filter! Wonderful leather-covered Corbin seat with moveable, tilt-adjustable back rest (see photos) Throttlemeister deluxe adjustable cruise control (see chrome weights on ends of bars) Super-cool-looking, great-feeling leather fringe grips - laced on & removeable; waterproof Side stand ignition interlock kills the engine if you try to drive off with the stand down. 4-way emergency flashers with button switch on left grip stick-on quartz clock on instrument panel 6-ply vinyl-covered plywood side-stand rest is velcroed to the back rest so it's always readily available when you have to park on a soft surface. I made this decades ago, but it stays with the bike - you'll need it. Removeable insulated handlebar-mounted cupholder for those long, hot (or cold) rides! Along with the motorcycle I am including the original leather-covered seat and backrest/passenger seat with all hardware. The Corbin seat is unbelievably more comfortable for rider and passenger, but the original BMW seat stays with the bike. Also included is a battery tender with the proper plug to connect easily to the bike; maximize the life of the bike's battery. Many of you may not be aware that these BMW "Chromeheads" have no center stand - side stand only. R1200C owners have to buy a separate center stand ($189) to facilitate maintenance and cleaning. I designed my own, and a welder & I built just one to my specs. It's powerfully strong, works great, and stores in a small space! I am including this center stand FREE with this bike; you'll need it. I hope that's all of it - I've been at this computer plenty long! One thing is certain: There isn't another motorcycle like this one in the entire world! It's indeed very special. I've loved it and babied it the entire 4 1/2-plus years I've owned it. But as I rapidly approach the 60-mark, I find that my tastes are changing (not surprising, huh?). I have just bought a "new" BMW sport-touring motorcycle (and its owner is getting ready to buy a new luxury-touring Beemer), and I can't afford to keep two bikes, much less find room for them - though I really wish I could!!! If you need shipping info, check with www.HaulBikes.com. THANKS FOR LOOKING, AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING!On Jun-09-10 at 18:37:35 PDT, seller added the following information: You may be interested in knowing that this Beemer is very lightweight for a big bike. As equipped, it's under 650 pounds wet and rolls on a wheelbase as long as the big Harleys. Handling is very close to that of a sport bike. I'm 5'7" and about 140# and could handle it easily. Let me add also that the Telelever front suspension will not nose-dive; anti-dive is engineered into the geometry of the system. That's BMW engineering for ya! -- JohnOn Jun-10-10 at 20:34:32 PDT, seller added the following information: OH YES.... and you do get, along with the bike, the original owner's manual - plus a complete service manual and parts catalog on 4 CD's. Now how can you beat that?!!! -- John On Jun-13-10 at 16:20:30 PDT, seller added the following information: One small correction and one small addition: According to the owner's manual, the R1200C weighs 565# with full tank; my bike is a little more as equipped. Horsepower is rated at 61 (I think the torque is 74), with a listed top speed of 104 (that's enough). The heads have one spark plug per cylinder. -- J
