Vehicle Detail
I have not driven this old truck for at least 2 years now. I have been using it as a sign at my retail location and to store stuff in. That's about it. I closed the retail place and did manage to jump-start it and drive it home. Only about 1 mile. It will need brake work and the transmission leaks. It never leaked a drop of anything when I was using it every day. The leak started after it had sat for a while. It has the 7.5L gasoline engine, a real gas hog for sure, but plenty of power. When we were using it, it ran good and would scoot right down the road. The box is Fiberglass reinforced plywood with the translucent roof. I couldn't tell you with certainty if it has serious or minor problems, but it is definitely NOT drivable as it is now. Unless you are a mechanical miracle-worker, you'd best plan on towing or trailering the thing. If you like to tinker or salvage and part out stuff, it might be worthwhile. Who knows, it might run great without that much work. As stated, I honestly don't know. I just need to get rid of it, that's why I'm starting it cheap and have no reserve on it. My junk could be your treasure. Good luck and happy bidding! On Jun-09-10 at 13:51:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Box is 15 ft. in length. Has pass through door to cab. Floor is the heavy duty wood plank construction. I installed 1/2 inch marine plywood over this and had it sprayed with LINE-X.Walls have fiberglass panels installed over 1/2 inch styrofoam panel insulation. On Jun-11-10 at 04:37:52 PDT, seller added the following information:As Promised, here are the results of the road test performed by the absolute best mechanic I've ever met: It was warmed up at home, moved to the stop sign at the end of the street and checked for a noise. The noise was a loose hose on the air plenum hitting the fan occasionally. I reattached it. I noticed leaks while checking for the noise. The picture of the leaks is from sitting at the stop sign for a couple of minutes. Mileage: 252,921 Known issues: Windshield is broken: if you live in Kansas there is no inspection so it is up to you. The battery is bad. This will have to be replaced if you plan on turning the vehicle off for a period of time unless you can jump start. Brake fluid was way down. They work but are a BIG question. The pedal goes down to an uncomfortable level. Tires, one is bare, a couple others are thin and if being used will want to be replaced. Transmission: Transmission leak out of the front seal. This is fairly big. How bad YOU GUESS. If you are going far be careful to check it frequently. AOD the OD off button does work. Seems to shift fine. Engine: water leak on the right side somewhere. How bad YOU GUESS. If you are going far be careful to check it frequently. Tappet noise on the right bank I think. Small leak on the exhaust gasket I think, right side again. Questions: It "felt" funny to me when moving it between Park and any gear, Forward to reverse, or reverse to forward. Maybe the engine is idling low? The engine needs tuned up, in my opinion. There is a ping when it is loaded up(accelerating but not downshifted) when warm.
