Vehicle Detail

First Generation Honda Civic: The car is from the time when Civics had personality. Like a family pet, this car gives its heart to please you, and responds eagerly to any attention you give it. I've owned this car for two and a half years. I've put about 15,000 miles on during that time. The following improvements have been completed during my ownership: Engine: New Goldwing pistons installed, new camshaft, valve job, resurfaced head, custom fabricated 4-2-1 header with 1.75 exhaust pipe (factory exhaust system is sound and will be delivered with the car), rebuilt carburetor and alternator, new fuel pump, new water pump, new radiator, all new gaskets and belts. Drivetrain: Rebuilt axles and CV joints, replaced 4 speed transmission with 5 speed transmission from a 1980 Civic 1300, new clutch assembly. Suspension: New front lower control arms, new front struts, springs, and upper mounts, fresh wheel alignment. All eight wheel bearings, front and rear, replaced with new. Brakes: New discs and drums, new shoes and pads, new power booster, new master cylinder, new flexible hoses. The car starts easily hot or cold. Manual choke needed for two minutes when cold. Steering is light and direct, no wobbles, tracks straight, brakes are firm and steady, no pulsation or pulling to one side, power is good, will cruise at 65 mph at 3200 rpm, 35 - 40 mpg on the freeway. Tires have half their tread depth remaining. Transmission shifts without grinding, stays in gear, operates quietly, clutch take up is smooth, no shuddering, no slipping. There is a minor oil leak at the front crankshaft seal and the oil drain plug. The interior is working class only, driver's seat is patched with duct tape, carpet is from a fabric store. All lights, fan, wiper, signals, radio operate as intended. Windows and doors open and close smoothly. Door weatherstrip is good, window weatherstrip needs replacing. The ignition key does not fit the door locks. There is no door key. I'm told a locksmith can key the door locks to match the ignition. This car is one that makes driving an adventure, in a good way. I always looked forward to my commute in it. It has a satisfying growl and a direct connection to the road that is often filtered out in modern automobiles. You should buy this car if you are comfortable with some mechanical involvement with your vehicles. Don't buy this car if you view automobiles as appliances. It recently passed the smog inspection, so California buyers will not need a smog inspection for two more years. Here's a you tube video, I couldn't get the sound to transcibe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Rg4h1qKS8 On Jun-06-10 at 17:12:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Here's a youtube video of the exhaust note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SHqMGXWKeU
