Looking for a real nice 1996 Mark 3 Golf GTI? This could be the one! Golf GTI mark 3's are getting hard to find!!! I purchased this car on Ebay 5 years ago and the transmission was slipping and shifting erratic. I changed the transmission fluid (special VW Trans oil) and filter and replaced the transmission control computer, the problem went away. I put 75,000 miles on it without ANY problems. Car runs and drives but transmission needs attention again! (Delayed shifting between gears) If I shift it manually there is no problem. Positive engagement of all gears, no slipping. Maybe changing the Trans oil and filter and computer will fix the problem, and maybe after 244,000 miles, it won't. I bought another transmission control computer, oil and filter, but haven't change them. I thought about swapping it over to a 5 speed but just don't have the time. I moved on to a Jetta Diesel, so the GTI has been parked in my garage for 2 yrs. The GTI has been started and "exercised" regularly, so things don't seize up from sitting around. Really don't want to part with it, but I can't stand it sitting there, teasing me, any longer! It's time to find a new home for the GTI. This GTI is in GREAT condition and has absolutely NO RUST !!! Strut towers solid . Under body is solid. Doors and fenders are solid. Even the rear hatch is solid and rust free. (very rare) No rust around rear license plate bucket. Mark 3 Golf GTI's in this condition, are hard to find. There is a dent in drivers door below mirror caused by someone backing into my open door causing it to swing open far enough to hit the front fender. (easy fix) No other damage to door or fender. It broke the door stop which has been repaired. The rest of the body is in Great condition. GTI has been very well maintained. I installed some very nice glass lens, Depo, E-code headlights with 6000K Xenon, HID lights both low and high beams. Like driving in daylight!!! Engine runs great, doesn't burn any oil, doesn't leak oil. Struts and shocks are good Brakes are good, Master cylinder has been replaced. Steering tight and good Front end aligned just before it was parked Exhaust is good All door seals are in good condition All glass is good All body molding is there and good. Moonroof does not work, Rain got into the track and froze. Unknowing, I tried to open it, something snapped. No stereo or speakers installed Needs new tires Driver seat has a small wear hole from getting in and out of car. Interior needs a good cleaning but in good shape. Any questions? just ask.
