Vehicle Detail

1971 Mercury Montego MX 460 V-8 engine Power Steering C-6 automatic transmission Ford Nine inch rear with 3.50 positraction The Engine is stock 460 with an Edelbrock performer intake manifold and Holley 750 Carburetor. It also has a Ford electronic Dura spark distributor with new spark box and new autolite plugs, wires, cap and rotor. It has dual exhaust off the manifolds with new donut gaskets and 2 ½ pipes that dump out over the rear and down by the quarters. The engine runs well but could use a fine tune. It does have an oil leak. The transmission is a Factory for C-6 that shifts fine but does have a leaky pan.. The rear end is the original ford Nine inch with 3.50 gearing an aftermarket (Richmond?) Posi unit. It is supported by new leaf spring (tags still visible). It rolls on 15 x 7 and 15 x 8 Weld Aluminum Racing rims. The have plenty of meat but do show their age. The brake drums have been cut all round and new shoes and 2 wheel cyclinder installed. The interior is good to very good. The front and rear set have little wear and the door panels are clean. The dash looks to have been redone or recovered and has No rips. The headliner is coming apart toward the back at the seams. The body is straight and takes wax and holds a shine. It does have a Torino rear tail light panel that was install by a previous owner. The Montego does show signs of decay on the lower doors, lower quarters, fenders, a little on the inner hood and inner trunk lid. The trunk is solid but the front part of the front floor pans have some problems from a leaky cowl. It currently passes inspection has a current New York State Inspection sticker. The Montego is not a show car but presentable to your Wife and others. It’s all one color and is not loud. It does get attention from many and is a reasonable value. Prior history of the car shows it was a 351 Cleveland 2 barrel car with factory AC This is a turn key car that can be driven and enjoyed from day 1.
