Original Mercedes-Benz coupe offered for sale. This car has an unconfirmed 3 owner history - I did not run a CarFax on it when purchased. The factory odometer reveals only 5 digits so I am assuming the mileage listed above is correct. Recalling the history, as passed along to me from the previous owner, this coupe was purchased by the original owner in Germany and driven there before being shipped to the West Coast- San Francisco perhaps? The included owner's manual/booklets support this. The original gentleman who owned the car moved north to Hood River, Oregon where he retired. The second owner, also a Hood River resident and friend of mine, bought it from his wife when the original owner passed away. The 2nd owner had the upper end of the motor rebuilt. The car is NOT a sunroof model. It has been repainted at least once but could use a fresh paint job to be show quality. The car has a little surface rust in the trunk spare tire well and well behind the rear drivers side wheel well. The sheetsteel is not perforated anywhere by rust which is extremely rare- I can attest to this because my other '65 coupe has issues in both of these locations and around the headlight buckets- common places for rust in these cars as well as the rocker panel area. The car has been regularly driven and garaged. There is some smoke at start up that clears out after driving a couple of minutes. The engine runs flawlessly and has no known issues. The manual 4 speed transmission operates smoothly too. There is an exhaust leak somewhere after the header but it isn't prohibitive to enjoying driving the car. The tires are newer Toyos in very good condition. All glass is in-tact and in very good condition. The tail light lens on the drivers side is cracked but functional. Windows and controls are operable with the exception of some of the heater controls- there are some seized cables that could be replaced between the control levers and heater box. The fan is operable:) The interior of this car has undergone some restoration during my ownership. All the interior pieces are included in the sale although not all are presently installed. The car comes with new leather seat covers from World Upholstery, and new wool carpets. This sale includes the following uninstalled items: Original Mercedes-Benz rubber windshield seal, rear window rubber seal, and side window rubber seal (x2) - all in bags from factory. A new white perforated vinyl headliner from World Upholstery is also included. One pair of original European Headlights is included as well as some extra bumpers and a complete front grill. An included but dismounted (from the interior) Kuhlmeister brand A.C. unit is also included. The visors, knee bolster, grab handles, and seat back are included as well. Everything is there- I promise:) the spare tire, jack and various factory tools are also included. Items missing from the car: 1. Hood star- do have the base and retaining clip. 2. The radio antenna has fallen down inside the front quarter panel- happened while I was removing it for cleaning- but all the parts are there. It no longer retracts as it should. Books and records: The original European manuals, service books and other info is available with the car. Unfortunately, I cannot provide the service history as the original owner's wife was unable to lacate it after her husband died. There are undoubtedly more spare parts than I have mentioned and I will provide more information and pictures upon request. Interested parties are welcome and encouraged to view the car and set up an inspection here in Portland. I would be happy to drive the car to MBI Motors, MotorSports International, or other qualified Mercedes-Benz shops for an inspection if desired. Our reason for selling is a move to a new home with reduced garage space. The remaining items that require installation are: the front passenger seat back (covered in new leather), and the wood on the driver's side "A" pillar, wood center speaker cover, rear parcel shelf cover, upper dash wood trim at base of window, the included new headliner- the one in the pictures is still there, the new factory rubber seals for the windscreen, rear window and chrome door trim (also factory parts and included with the sale), and wool carpet pieces on the inside portion of rocker panels (included with sale). On the exterior we replaced the missing Mercedes-Benz star on the hood - still missing ceramic emblem that affixes to the top front of the grill and the radio antenna. There is a complete set of new O.E. Mercedes-Benz aluminum grill trim pieces included with the vehicle sale. Thanks for your interest!
